A reflection on our feelings during these moments of chaos and confusion and some ideas for how we can contribute positively to this world.

It’s impossible not to notice that most of us are experiencing a strange feeling in our hearts.  People I know from childhood and from different times of my life, with diverse nationalities, religious affiliations, with no exception, are realizing that the world is dramatically changing. Lots of things are happening everywhere; human tragedies, injustices, catastrophes, environmental disasters and a loss of many lives. We are bombarded with tons of negative information, bad news and sad stories by the mainstream media.

It’s an overwhelming feeling in our hearts that we are all experiencing one way or another, possessing us slowly but steadily and it’s making each one of us wonder what is happening. It’s certainly making us question ourselves if we have a role to play in all this. With the recent lunar eclipse, it occurs to me that we could be experiencing a total eclipse as well, but of our hearts.

We are letting the shadows of fear and lack of love come between our hearts and this beautiful planet we have been blessed with. All the beautiful feelings from our hearts are not reaching this planet, as we are, somehow, disconnected from it. These shadows of fear and lack of love are not letting us see its beauty.

It makes me remember the chorus of the very well-known Bonnie Taylor song: “Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I’m only falling apart, there is nothing I can do, a total eclipse of the heart”…

There is something we all can do, the only way to clear up those glooms… It’s believing in love again. We have to respect and love each other and each creature and thing that coexists with us. We have to start from home, with our families, closest friends and neighbors, in our immediate surroundings. We must understand that what is affecting us is not a distant matter to be observed from a safe stand, but from within.

There are things that are totally beyond our control, and they look scary to us, but we must not allow them to diminish the strength of our goodness. We must keep in mind the importance of the many amazing things that we can do together to contribute positively – if we all give our own great share of love the best way we can.

Let’s stop living with a total eclipse of our hearts and start lightening them up with love – allowing ourselves to have a full view of the beauty that is around us.

Let’s bring back the light in our hearts.

Let’s see with bright eyes.

This is the perfect time to change.

This is the perfect time to start…
