Facebook has been accused of being a facade for free speech as it has been known to censor controversial content. For example, earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg was called out for practicing censorship when a Facebook ad by CREDO Mobile was pulled for criticizing his financial and political ties to the Keystone XL pipeline.
The group March Against Monsanto announced yesterday on their Facebook page that Facebook removed an event page promoting a rally in St. Louis, MO, where the biotech giant is headquartered. The rally is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 12, with a broad coalition of regional groups and solidarity activists planning to converge at the company’s corporate headquarters. While the event did not contain derogatory or inappropriate content, it was removed for violating Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. The group has since created a new event page for the rally.
Turkey's battle with the Internet took a new twist on Wednesday. A Turkish government minister said Twitter has refused to cooperate with the government, but that Facebook had responded "positively" and was "in cooperation with the state."
Turkish Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yilderim, quoted in Turkish media, did not elaborate on what this cooperation entails. But Turkish officials have complained that social media outlets aren't sharing user access information with prosecutors and law enforcement agencies. The story took an additional turn later in the day, when Facebook issued a statement denying that it was cooperating with the government.
In case some of you dont know(todays postings disappeared..) Facebook is commercial-lizing the site now.So anything you post CANT be shared en mass anymore and they want you to pay up $7/post.

XCHAT is easy enough to come by and EFNET is usually text forums about software or tech support or the like. Its chat. But its not hi speed chat usually. Can almost always connect thru a browser proxy or directly thru xchat client itself.
