FRESNO, Calif.  -- Deep in the Sierra Nevada, the famous General Grant giant sequoia tree is suffering its loss of stature in silence. What once was the world's No. 2 biggest tree has been supplanted thanks to the most comprehensive measurements taken of the largest living things on Earth.

The new No. 2 is The President, a 54,000-cubic-foot gargantuan not far from the Grant in Sequoia National Park. After 3,240 years, the giant sequoia still is growing wider at a consistent rate, which may be what most surprised the scientists examining how the sequoias and coastal redwoods will be affected by climate change and whether these trees have a role to play in combatting it.

Frank Fiume wanted make sports fun for kids again. So, he founded i9 Sports, a franchise offering flag-football, soccer and more to over 130,000 kids.

There was a time when youth sports were synonymous with kids picking dandelions in the outfield and “Bad News Bears”-style bumbling. Today it's often about parents socking each other in the bleachers and steely-eyed athletes stretching their young bodies to the limit in their determination to win. Athletics, instead of being a way to let off steam, socialize and build confidence, have become one more competitive stress.

Scientists find oldest dinosaur – or closest relative yet

Researchers have discovered what may be the earliest dinosaur, a creature the size of a Labrador retriever, but with a five foot-long tail, that walked the Earth about 10 million years before more familiar dinosaurs like the small, swift-footed Eoraptor and Herrerasaurus.

The findings mean that the dinosaur lineage appeared 10 million to 15 million years earlier than fossils previously showed, originating in the Middle Triassic rather than in the Late Triassic period.

Can animals predict the weather?

Ahhh, the ability to predict the weather. Us mere human meteorologists may squabble over who is the most accurate. But, believe it or not, we aren’t the only inhabitants of this world who prognosticate the weather. Much of the animal kingdom possess an innate ability to predict the weather.

That means everyone from my dog Ralph running and hiding when a thunderstorm is coming, to Punxsutawney Phil, top yes, even WSTM’s Doppler The Weather Cat hiding behind the couches in the lobby, can sense and predict a change in the weather.

The Watchers - 12/05/12, by Adonai

Quantum physics and recent scientific experiments are radically changing our understanding of life, our reality, and our spirituality. It is giving us a new model for the way our universe works and the practical steps to take toward true joy and excitement and peace of mind. Quantum Physics is actually a science of mathematics, and it is the most accurate mathematical science ever discovered to explain what we see in our “reality.” The mathematics used to create a hologram is the same mathematics used in quantum physics to “describe nature” and explain the behavior we see in our “reality.” This is...
