Chakras 101: How To Tell If Your Heart Chakra Needs Healing

by Danielle Fagan, Collective-Evolution

Have you ever felt as though you’re carrying around a heaviness throughout your day? Or had a difficulty letting go of the past? Or find it hard to connect with others because you’re burdened with emotional pain?

If so, the issue could be coming from your heart chakra. According to Eastern metaphysical theories of Ayurvedic Indian Medicine, there are seven major spiritual centers of the body. These are called the chakras, which are like wheels of energy that correspond with certain organs and glands, as well as mental, emotional, and physical states.

When a chakra is working properly, energy should move freely into it and freely out of it. It naturally takes in that which it needs and releases that which it does not. But sometimes traumas can cause the heart chakra to malfunction.

When the energy flow of the heart chakra is impeded, you may hang on to a lot of heavy emotions and have a difficult time moving forward. It can also be difficult to let new people into your life (as new people represent new energy) because you have not fully let go of the past (old energy that needs to be released).

How This L.A. Family Is Growing 6,000 Pounds Of Food Annually In Their Backyard

by Alanna Ketler, Collective-Evolution

The Dervaes family, a family of four in Pasadena, California, grows around 6,000 pounds of produce each year on their property—less than one tenth of an acre! They have nicknamed their mini farm the “Urban Homestead.” One of the best things about this home (aside from the efficiency of space), is that all of the food grown there is entirely organic! Imagine going to your backyard and harvesting your own fruits and vegetables for each meal of the day. This idea puts a whole new meaning to the phrase “from farm to table.”

Head of the family, Jules Dervaes, started the farm 30 years ago in an effort to take back natural food produced the way that was aligned with his own values, and to develop a deeper sense of environmental consciousness.

Jules has 3 children that have been a part of this amazing project for nearly all of their lives, and they have all helped to utilize every inch of their property to support a huge variety of organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Everything produced on the Urban Homestead is free of chemical pesticides and fertilizers and is grown organically.

‘Magic Mushrooms’ Erase Deep Depression In First Human Clinical Trial

by Alanna Ketler, Collective-Evolution

First off, I’d like to point out something. This isn’t an article about drugs, or the idea that escaping with a drug will only give you a temporary uplift in mood. This article is about plant medicine. Actually, a specific plant medicine called psilocybin, or, more commonly referred to as Magic MushroomsThere are many different and naturally occurring (as in, grown in the wild) medicines all over the world that I believe are here for a reason. Maybe a gift form our Mother Earth, or perhaps just here by chance, these various psychedelic plants can have profound implications for our mental health and assist us with overcoming childhood trauma, psychological disorders, addiction, and many other mental health issues.

With that being said, if you have a stigma around what you perceive to just be drugs (and drugs are bad), then I encourage you to continue reading with an open mind. It may help to think of the magic mushrooms as plant medicine as I mentioned above.

Why This School District Became The First In North America To Go 100% Organic & Non-GMO

by Arjun Walia, Collective-Evolution

Last year, Sausalito Marin City School District became the very first completely organic and non-GMO district in the country. Its two schools are Bayside MLK Jr. Academy in Marin City and Willow Creek Academy in Sausalito. The program aims to improve students’ health and educate them about food, agriculture, and the environment. (source)(source)

The program was initiated by Judi Shils, the founder of the non-profit education and advocacy group Turning Green and the director of The Conscious Kitchen.

Something All Of Us Can Do Yet We Thought We Couldn’t. Some ‘Supernormal’ Powers Are Actually Normal

by Arjun Walia, Collective-Evolution

Wim Hof raised the eyebrows of many scientists after he was able to use meditation to stay submerged in ice for almost two hours without his core body temperature changing one bit. This is remarkable, and adds to the growing body of evidence that points to the important role consciousness plays in our body’s reaction to certain situations/ailments.

Since Wim was able to successfully maintain his core body temperature in such a harsh environment, he’s since gone on to climb Mount Everest in his shorts, resist altitude sickness, complete a marathon in the Namib Desert with no water, and proven under a laboratory setting that he’s able to influence his autonomic nervous system and immune system at will.

But this isn’t about doing mind bending feats as it is about consciousness. And that’s where Wim’s focus is. He uses cold therapy as a mirror to show you where your consciousness is and what connection you have to your body. He encourages the connection between your mind, body and consciousness.

Big Pharma’s Competition: The Eradication Of Natural Alternatives

by Ryan Cristian, Collective-Evolution

Everyone has the simple desire to find happiness within themselves — to find a state of well-being that can be carried throughout their lives. Sara is no different. Sara is a teacher who struggles with mental conditions for which she has been prescribed a bevy of medications. Over the years she has struggled, as most in her situation have, with addiction and the unbearable side-effects of her FDA-approved “safe” medications. Her absolute passion in this life is for the children whom she molds and develops with an unrivaled dedication. As she began to grapple further with the unexpected effects and growing addiction to her medications, she began to see it affecting her ability to be present in her responsibilities, while also stealing her creativity that she so greatly treasured. So when she discovered kratom, which successfully replaced not one, but all of her medications, with zero side-effects, she thanked God for providing this miracle and natural alternative.

The Inner-Ear Device That Translates Languages In Real Time

by Arjun Walia, Collective-Evolution

Who doesn’t love travelling? There are few things as exhilarating as going to another country, immersing yourself in another culture, and trying to communicate with people across a language barrier — things we take for granted like road signs and food ingredients become challenges to overcome, and you must find your way around in whatever way you can. Unfortunately, I’ve only had this experience a couple of times, but I always think about how difficult travelling in countries where they speak another language must be, particularly in rural areas where people don’t speak even a little bit of your language. Our primary mode of communication is speech, and while there are many nonverbal ways to convey meaning, they generally only work for the most basic of concepts.

If you like to travel, you have undoubtedly found yourself in a frustrating situation trying to communicate with someone who doesn’t speak your language. Sometimes no matter how hard you try, you can’t get your meaning across. And language barriers can create real barriers between people, reinforcing judgements and assumptions about their culture which may have disintegrated if you were able to share a few words together.

How Conscious Cinema Is Making Its Way Into The Mainstream

by Tom Bunzel, Collective-Evolution

As art reflects the changes in social and cultural conventions as they happen, the current movement in film where “conscious cinema” is reaching the mainstream hopefully indicates a shift in the consciousness of millions of movie lovers.

While blockbuster remakes remain prevalent in Hollywood, there is a sea change afoot. Festivals like the upcoming Illuminate in Sedona are featuring movies with a deeper message yet with plots and characters that keep audiences enthralled.

I was fortunate enough to attend last year’s Illuminate event and saw powerful films about transition (death), raised consciousness by some of the great thinkers of the 20th century (Tim Leary and Ram Dass and their friendship), the horrors of human trafficking, and the amazing wisdom traditions of indigenous peoples around our planet.

The screenings were packed and this year’s event anticipates even greater attendance and more powerful energy.

Why You Don’t Need To Drop Everything And Travel To ‘Find Yourself’

by Amanda Monteiro, Collective-Evolution

People desire change. Even though we often fear the unknown, we still want to experience new things and become better versions of ourselves. And so we immerse ourselves in new territories and situations in the hopes that we will unveil a new side of ourself — one we are proud of for having taken the plunge into unfamiliar waters.

I can see the appeal in all of this. Just this year I whisked myself away to Hawaii for a retreat, hoping it would force me to grow and learn, hoping that I would discover a new part of myself that had been lying dormant up until now. Yet while I did learn some new things and meet some new people, ultimately it was still the same person taking that flight home.

What Science Is Telling Us About Earth’s Electromagnetic Fields & How They Connect To Our Own

by Arjun Walia, Collective-Evolution

Science has recently shed light on the fact that what we used to perceive as ‘human’ aura is actually real. All of our bodies emit an electromagnetic field, and this fact plays a very important role far beyond what is commonly known when it comes to understanding our biology, and the interconnectedness we share with all life.

For example, did you know that the heart emits the largest electromagnetic field of all the body’s major organs? These fields and the information encoded into them can change based on how we are feeling, what we thinking, and different emotions we take on. The heart even sends signals to the brain through a system of neutrons that have both short-term and long-term memory, and these signals can affect our emotional experiences. The emotional information that’s modulated and coded into these fields changes their nature, and these fields can impact those around us. As Rolin McCratey, Ph.D, and director of research at The HeartMath institute tell us, “we are fundamentally and deeply connected with each other and the planet itself.”
