Glutathione, The ‘Master’ Antioxidant

If there were such a thing as a nutrient that “does it all”, glutathione would have to be a top contender for the number one spot. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that prevents damage to important cellular components, repairs and protects the body from harmful toxins and other dangers we encounter in our polluted environment.

Briefly, Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide comprised of three amino acids, cysteine, glutamic acid (ionic salt from glutamate), and glycine. All three of these amino acids are considered to be non-essential, meaning our body synthesizes them.

So if the body produces its own glutathione, then why is it necessary to consume foods that support glutathione production? The simple answer: Oxidation.

Oxidation is caused by nutrient-deficit diets, a polluted environment, pharmaceuticals (prescribed and over-the-counter), physical and emotional stress, electromagnetic stress, and radiation.

The universe and life draw people and situations into our lives at times to deal with the personal unconscious – the darkness we need to make conscious in ourselves before we can attain any higher spiritual states. Relationships are very powerful and challenging in that regard as we engage in the dance of shadow projection, triggering unconscious traits in each other.

When we are in the midst of challenging situations and life takes a downward spiral and everything seems to fall apart, it is hard to make sense of it all. The pain and suffering can be intense, resulting in depression, resentment, anger, guilt and shame. We feel resentment if we feel wronged by another person and we blame him/her for the pain they have caused us. Or we blame ourselves with guilt and shame of how bad of a person we are. So we judge others or ourselves, reacting mechanically and unconsciously.

I often pose the question why more people aren’t voicing their outrage and concerns about what’s going on in the world regarding the many programs being executed upon humanity in plain sight to all. I know this isn’t always easy to present to others, especially in certain circumstances, the most challenging of which is amongst close friends and loved ones who haven’t woken up to these realities yet.

As many of you know I’ve talked about this challenge many times. Many of the commenters on the ZenGardner website are extremely helpful to others who bring up this topic, usually regarding a mate who just doesn’t get it yet, although this often involves children and close friends as well.

I face the same challenges. This is an extremely common phenomenon and completely understandable. After all, awakening to a monumental shift in consciousness and perception is a very personal and ultimately individual experience, as it should be. However it’s not necessarily a shared one. What compounds the issue is that those who do wake up and become aware of what’s really going on usually become quite passionate researchers, only to find more and more evidence confirming the magnitude and wonder of this paradigm shift, including both horrific as well as empowering realities never perceived before.

Taking a PAUSE

By PAUSE, I don’t mean taking a Facebook break. A PAUSE means wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, no matter what you’re racing to – you stop.

Did you realise the physical experience of being scared is exactly the same as the physical experience of being excited? The difference is all in the head.

It’s all based on the fight or flight response (this should include the word freeze, as that is also an option). The need for this response comes from the caveman days where in order to survive attack we needed to be able to respond instantly, without giving it any thought. Think about it: you are being attacked by a sabre toothed tiger – if you take the time to work out if your brought your best spear, or if you can outrun it on this terrain, then you’re dead. The fight or flight response is a primitive instant and emotional response to keep you alive.

So, whilst we have physically evolved and adapted for a modern environment, the brain is still working on a set of rules that come from the caveman days.
