Says opt-out mechanism violates European Union law.

German data protection officials today accused Facebook of “illegally compiling a vast photo database of users without their consent” and demanded that the social network destroy its archive of files based on facial recognition technology, the New York Times reported.

Facebook says that it uses face recognition software to match users’ photos to others and suggest friends to tag in those photos. A user can prevent friends from seeing tag suggestions when they upload photos that look like that user. But this requires opting out through Facebook privacy settings, which Germany notes is a violation of European law.

It only works at night, but the technique sets a new distance record.

Sending signals through fiber optic cable is reliable and fast, but because of internal absorption and other effects, they will lose photons—which is a problem when the number of photons being sent is small. This is of particular concern in quantum networks, which typically involve a small number of entangled photons. Direct transmission through free space (vacuum or air) experiences less photon loss, but it's very difficult to align a distant receiver perfectly with the transmitter so that photons arrive at their destination.

Didn't we already know this? Yes we did.

Every now and again I receive an email message I ignore after reading the subject line. I know I'm not alone in following this rule of thumb, but today I broke down and opened a message the subject line of which read "Scientists Declare: Nonhuman Animals Are Conscious". I honestly thought it was a joke, likely from one of my favorite newspapers, The Onion. However, it wasn't.

Suzanne Lie – The Arcturian – Fifth Dimensional Leadership – 21 August 2012

Greetings, we are the Arcturians,

We are HERE in your NOW to talk to you about fifth dimensional leadership. We will begin by telling all of you that you are already leaders or you would not be interested in expanding your innate leadership into its fifth dimensional expression. You have known or are now remembering, even if this knowing was unconscious to your daily life, that you would be called upon one day to make a contribution to your Planetary Ascension.

Therefore, we ask that each of you begin to ask us personally, in your meditations and through your journaling, exactly what specific contribution you volunteered to give to Gaia before you took this form. It is important to remember that you are NOT your body. You are wearing your body. That is, the third dimensional resonance of your Multidimensional SELF is wearing your current body. We say “current” for your body will transmute along with your consciousness.

India: Maharashtra State Revokes Monsanto’s Cotton Seed License – 21 August 2012

(Lucas:  Although the news is from 9 August I find it interesting as Monsanto is getting lawsuits and other obstacles laid on the path to its total GMO control. The fighting back is streghtened in also winning a lot of cases against Monsanto. In this article we are told about Monsanto getting their license revoked for Cotton GMO crop.)

NEW DELHI, India, August 9, 2012 (ENS) – This was a difficult day for the proponents of genetically modified crops in India. In Parliament, the Agriculture Committee tabled a report seeking a ban on genetically modified food crops and a halt to all field trials. And the state of Maharashtra cancelled Mahyco Monsanto Biotech’s license to sell its genetically modified Bt cotton seeds.

God said:

Who has not been in a situation when he and another appear to be opposing forces? What started it is no longer the issue. Of course, each party feels hurt, and each party feels justified for the hardness in his heart. Someone did not do right. Each thinks it is the other who did not do right. Each feels victimized. Each sees the other as a villain, perhaps even an arch-villain.

Each party wants to be loved. Whatever the precipitating incident, each party did not love and was not loved, at least, not enough. Each party had his back up. To the parties involved, it becomes a question of honor, integrity, virtue, rightness, justice. This is how it seems.

Earth Allie: The most difficult part of ascension

glr_Andrea's picture

is understanding it's easy!

For it's not ascension that is difficult at all, it's the letting go that seems challenging! Take a computer... if you want to get rid of a program that is running on it, you just don't wait for it to disappear, nor can you simply drag it to the bin... you need to disinstall it completely, and often you find that there are other programs (hidden ones) that still run even if you did disinstall the main one. Also, you cannot ask some beings to do the disintallation from their computer to help you save time, you have to do it on the one where the program is actually running. It's the only way.
And how many times did it happen that you tried to install a new program as the old one did not work for you anymore... and the new one created a conflict that crashed the whole system? That's why it's often required to disinstall the old before a new one can be installed. You can't have two that work in conflict, you can't walk two path at the same time. You're either walking on one path or on the other one. Trying to walk them both... creates conflict, and conflict creates the assumption that the ascension process is difficult.

The mind program works in a similar way. You feel that your old way is not working anymore and often try to simply drag it into the bin (deeper unconscious) but from there it will still work and make you act in those unwanted ways you were trying to cancel, thus as it's hidden so you cannot realize what's not working. Letting go does not mean hiding the old program mind, it means the opposite. Finding out what it is, digging deep into yourself to find out what's running yourself instead of the Love you are, and uninstall it. As long as a program is not acknowledged it cannot be "found" and thus cannot be erased.

The five, who are all 40 or younger and entered Parliament at the last election, are publishing a new book in which they say that "lazy" Brits prefer a lie-in to hard work.

Due to be published on the eve of the Conservative Party election, the book, called Britannia Unchained – Global Growth and Prosperity, also criticises the "baby boomer" generation for seeking to raise taxes for young workers to pay for their lavish pension pots.
