Animals Have Innate Sense Of Humility, Compassion And Fairness, Says Scientist

You’ve probably heard it about a thousand times. People telling you that if you don’t conform to one belief system over another that your sense of morality is skewed. You’ve probably heard people say that animals don’t think like we do, and that they have no sense of morality either. An individual’s gut may tell them so, but science is painting a different picture.

According to Researcher Frans de Waal, animals absolutely do have a natural sense of humility, fairness and compassion. It’s the same instinctual drive that inspires us to be good, decent, caring people. Unfortunately, centuries of promoting narcissism, green and self-interest has made these qualities more difficult to find in humanity.

The above TED Talk is a fascinating one to watch. We learned a lot from it. You might too.

Study: Monsanto’s GMO Corn Damages Liver, Kidneys, Disrupts Hormones

RR-Soybeans

More bad news out on GMOs. A highly controversial paper by Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini and his colleagues has been republished after an intense peer-review process. The study has identified serious health impacts on rats that were fed so-called Roundup Ready GMO corn.

The original study that was published in Food and Chemical Toxicology in 2012 found a disturbing degree of liver and kidney damage, as well as major hormonal disruption in rats fed the GM corn, and that the low levels of Roundup are actually below the amount permitted in drinking water in the EU.

The Editor in Chief of FCT retracted the paper in November 2013 after a sustained campaign of criticism and defamation by pro-GMO groups and scientists. But now, the study is out again...

Big Pharma’s Attempt At Cannabis-Based Drug Fails Clinical Study

2-The-indoor-grow-operation-maintained-by-GW-Pharmaceuticals-UK

GW Pharmaceuticals, a British pharmaceutical company, hoped that a new cannabis drug would have an impact on pain in cancer patients, but much to their dismay failed to do so in a clinical study. This revelation coincided with a 21% drop in their stock on Thursday.

GW was developing the drug Sativex for pain, but according to three late-stage trials found that there was no statistically significant difference between subjects receiving the drug and subjects receiving the placebo.

10 Pieces Of Wisdom & Quotes From Native American Elders

ntvamr

Prior to the arrival of Europeans in America, there were estimated to be 1.2 to 12 million Native Americans living in the Americas. That population was quickly dwindled to 250,000 via disease, suicide, genocide, slavery, and mass murder. This was an incredibly great tragedy and may be one of the most terrible things to ever happen to any group of people in the history of our planet. However, almost 0 attention is given to this tragedy. One has to ask, why?

In this tragedy, not only lives were lost, but almost all Native American traditions, spirituality, and customs were killed along with the people. Could this have been a reason for the genocide? They were in tune with Mother Nature and are often called the Keepers of the Earth. They wanted to “walk lightly upon the Earth and live in balance and harmony.” Perhaps if more Native Americans were alive today, our planet wouldn’t be facing so much turmoil. Everyone can benefit from adopting so of the ancient spiritual teachings of the Native American elders.

Doctor: ‘Marijuana Is Safer Than Every Other Medicine,”

Dr. Michael Hart of London, Ontario stands out among most physicians in Canada. He’s one of the few who has voiced his support for medical marijuana.

A new program introduced in April allows all Canadian physicians to write cannabis recommendations for patients who they think would benefit from the drug. Dr. Hart, among a handful of other physicians, have set up practices based on the treatment. Many physician groups are pushing back against the new rules. Additionally, the Canadian Medical Association and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada are warning doctors against prescribing cannabis.

Newly Discovered Planet Most Earth-Like Ever, Could Harbor Alien Life

An Earth-like planet orbiting a star that has formed a 'planetary nebula'

Meet Kepler 438b. It’s an alien world orbiting a distant star in the constellation of Lyra, and it’s likely the most Earth-like planet that humanity has discovered yet. It’s slightly larger than Earth and circles an orange dwarf star. The planet receives about 40% more heat from its star than we do from our sun.

The smaller size of 438b reveals that it’s likely a rocky world, and its proximity to the star puts it in the “Goldilocks,” or habitable zone. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right for liquid water to flow.

Kepler 438b is 470 light years away from us and completes an orbit around its star every 35 days, making its year about ten times shorter than ours. Small planets like 438b are more likely to be rocky ones than larger planets...

12 Life Lessons From Jesus Everyone Should Read Before They Die

This is not about religion. This is about real life lessons that can be applied to your life in an instant, and I highly recommend that you take them and apply them to your life immediately, you will notice the results.

Below are 12 powerful quotations from Christ Jesus:

1. To Serve Is To Be Great

“Whoever wants to be great must become a servant.”

Here is the secret to great leadership. Leadership is not about rulership. It is about serving others. And in giving to others you will never lack for any good thing in your life.

2. There Is A Cure For Worry

“Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds. Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference?...

Learn How To Spot FAKE Honey In The Grocery Store

honey colours 1
Honey is one of my favorite foods. It’s a superfood full of numerous vitamins and minerals and a safer way to sweeten foods and drinks. But did you know that most of the honey you see in the grocery store is treated with a process called “Ultra-Filtration?”

Food Safety News conducted an investigation into the honey you see on the shelves of your grocery store and found that about 76% of honey there was ultra-filtered. Ultra-filtration is a process that filters out irregularities like wax, but it also filters out pollen. Generic brands were the most likely to be ultra-filtered.

Ultra-filtration is a problem because the ‘impurities’ that it’s filtering are actually some of the most beneficial parts of the honey. This filtration does not provide any benefits to you whatsoever...

Surprised? Medical Marijuana States Have Fewer Drug Overdose Deaths

marijuana-buds

This should come as no surprise to anyone. States with legal medical marijuana have seen a 25% drop in deaths from opioid overdoses in comparison to states without medical marijuana, according to a new, 10-year study.

As ABC News reports, the researchers conducting the study found that because “legalizing medical marijuana makes it more available to chronic pain patients, it provides a potentially less lethal alternative to pain control on a long-term basis.”

Drugs like Percocet, Vicodin, and the notoriously addictive OxyContin are intended to help patients deal with pain. Data is indicating that as those prescriptions go up in frequency,...

Why Is Honey The Best Natural Antibiotic? Science Is Here To Explain It

140316132801-large

Honey is certainly a superfood of sorts. It’s packed with vitamin A, B2, B3, B5, C, biotin and rutine. It also contains minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, copper, iodine, and zinc. Kind of wild to think that one simple food can pack such a healthy punch.

But did you know it can also combat bacterial pathogens? According to Susan M. Meschwitz, Ph.D., honey uses a combination of methods to kill bacteria. One of which is the osmotic effect, which originates in honey’s high sugar concentration. In it, water is drawn from the bacteria cells, leaving the pathogens dehydrated and dead.

Additionally, Biochemist Peter Molan studied natural antibiotics like honey for over 25 years. His findings concluded that manuka honey is the most effective at killing bacteria; even antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
