6 Superfoods That’ll Give You A Healthier Nights Sleep

puppy-sleeping
Sleeping problems are on the rise in the United States. I know I for one don’t get enough. But did you know that there are 6 superfoods that can help improve your nights sleep? I’m going to have to try some of these!

Almonds

This is one of those foods I eat anyway! Awesome. Almonds help relax your muscles and contain magnesium and tryptophan.

Warm milk

Warm milk contains the amino acid tryptophan, which has a calming effect.

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile has a relaxing effect and helps with any kind of digestive cramp too. It helps calm agitated nerves and can get rid of insomnia.

Honey

Honey helps with anxiety, which can help you sleep if that’s what’s been keeping you up. Sugar helps keep you awake, but honey glucose has the opposite effect...

Beach-Goers Save 30 Stranded Dolphins In An Amazing Rescue

Sometimes, it feels like humanity is a cruel, ruthless thing. But we have both the conditioning for compassion and violence. We make a conscious choice which we’re going to be. While many people choose cruelty and violence, these wonderful beach-goers in Brazil chose compassion and life.

These people saw that about 30 dolphins had stranded themselves on a beach, and without thinking, immediately jumped into action to save them. Good work, everyone!

Terrence McKenna On Why Psychedelics Are Actually Illegal

It feels like Terrence McKenna is becoming more popular with the internet age than he was while he was alive! In this audio, McKenna talks about the ego, a mass cultural and social hallucination, and how psychedelics dissolve the boundaries that our egos set up.

Here’s the full transcript if you don’t want to watch the video:

Transcript:

The ego is a late arriving, very tenuous, highly uncertain of itself, social structure, that has taken root in the human psyche like a tumor, like a growth of some sort. It is the leftover of this primate dominance complex and the way it manifests itself is by the establishment of boundaries.First of all, this is my body, do not touch it. Second of all, these are my weapons and agricultural tools, do not touch them, this is my woman, these are my children, I hunt there, so forth and so on. It’s this division of the world which allows the illusion of the ego to come into existence. Now, what do psychedelics do and why are they such social dynamite?

The answer is,...

Is The Barter System How We Beat Runaway Debt And Economic Collapse?

It could very well be. The debt in the US isn’t what it was just six years ago when the US entered the great recession, and that’s great! But what happens the next time our government and economy get out of control and fuck us all over again? This Greek town had an idea: develop a bartering system that doesn’t involve the bartering system. Pretty neat, right? Watch the video above to learn all about it.

A Short History Of One Of The Greatest Inventors – Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla was born July 10th 1856 in what is now Croatia. Tesla was an incredible inventor, often thinking of new things to experiment with. He once attempted to fly from the roof of a barn by jumping off of it while holding onto an open umbrella. Mary Poppins much? But truly, the man invented many great things such as:

  • Wireless communication
  • Radar
  • Radio
  • Remote controls
  • Laser technology
  • Neon Lights
  • Electric motors
  • Bladeless turbines
  • Xray devices
  • Spark plugs
  • Robots

After I watched This, It Was Hard To Think Of Parks The Same Old Way

Picture a park in your mind. What do you see? Maybe a large expanse of water-hogging grass, a playground with children on it, a fountain, some trees, public basketball courts; but could you imagine a large, edible garden? A public park that doubles as a food forest? The city of Irvine, California imagined it and made it so. The video above shows how the city turned this park into an edible landscape that feeds over 200,000 people every year. Amazing!

These Homeless People Are Willing To Share Some Facts About Themselves – They’ll Surprise You!

It’s easy to be callous and skeptical of the people around us. When a homeless person asks you for help, do you question what it is that you’re really helping them do? Do you think they’re lazy? Addicts? Alcoholics? Mentally ill? Some of these things may be true for some of them, but I can guarantee, if you knew their backgrounds a little more, you might be more willing to lend a helping hand.

Goes to show why you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Special thank you to Rethink Homelessness for sharing this video.

Don’t Like Drones? Neither Did This Hawk, So He Did Something About It

I hear a lot of complaining about drones, and for good reason! They’re used for some pretty nefarious things, from invading our personal privacy and striking at ‘terrorists’ overseas. But YouTube user Christopher Schmidt’s quadcopter doesn’t serve a purpose like that. Nevertheless, his drone invaded the airspace of this hawk, and boy that hawk just wasn’t having any of that shit.

Don’t mess with hawks I guess!

Good News: Shark Fin Sales Continue Their Decline In China

shark-fins.jpg.650x0_q85_crop-smart
Good news if you’re a shark! Or if you’re someone who cares about sharks at all. WildAid, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the demand for wildlife products says that the shark fin market in China has been steadily declining for the last two decades.

Shark fin soup, which sounds pretty disgusting honestly, is a delicacy in China, costing as much as $100 a bowl. The practice of harvesting a shark’s fin has led more than one species of shark in the direction of extinction, and some 73 million sharks are killed for their fins every year. The most disgusting part is they’re only harvest for their fins...

New Study: Civilization Headed For Impending Collapse

800px-2755_-_Athens_-_Acropolis_-_Temple_of_Rome_and_Augustus_-_Photo_by_Giovanni_DallOrto_Nov_09_2009-537x413
The writing is on the wall for humanity it seems. Unchecked growth, population expansion, unsustainable practices and complete abuse of our environment could be what does us in; or at least according to a new study by researchers from the University of Maryland and University of Minnesota.

It’s happened to countless civilizations before us. The Roman empire, the Han, Gupta, and Mauryan empires too. Researchers warn of the potential for utter destruction of our global economy if we continue working with the same systems ...
