As Colorado Votes, Monsanto Buys Their Way To Victory

Right2Know_CO_Logo

In Colorado, voting began more than a week ago. Mail-in ballots began hitting mailboxes on October 13th, and early voting officially began. One of the initiatives that Coloradoans like myself can vote on is whether or not non-meat and dairy food products in Colorado should be labeled as containing genetically modified ingredients if any are present.

And this Coloradoan voted yes.

But because this Coloradoan voted yes doesn’t mean that anyone should have confidence in its passage. Here in Colorado, we have been bombarded, absolutely bombarded by a multi-million dollar anti-labeling ad campaign. Everywhere we look, there’s media spreading lies about what GMO labeling would mean for Colorado shoppers and farmers. It’s in online ads, in my mailbox every other day, and on television...

Don Luis Eduardo Luna On The Healing Properties Of Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca isn’t about drinking and tripping. There’s more to it than that. There is a growing body of research that shows ayahuasca is an effective drug for dealing with a variety of disorders, like Post Traumatic Stress disorder. Regardless of that body of research, authorities continue to rebel against using psychotheapeutic methods that involve psychedelic drugs, even though ayahuasca, MDMA and psilocybin mushrooms have proven to be effective in relieving different types of trauma.

The few studies in the US that have been down show pretty clearly the potential benefits. So why all of the fear?

Watch: The Un-Damming Of The Elwha River

The Elwha river in Washington State flows from Olympic Mountain to the straid of Juan de Fuca. In the early 1990s, the river was blocked to make a hydroelectric dam, which cut nearby native American from their livelihoods of salmon fishing.

It’s been 20 years now, and finally, the Elwha river dam is coming down. It’s obsolete for energy production and no longer needed. This video depicts conservationists and engineers slowly going through the process of safely dismantling the dam.

There are more than 250,000 dams in the US and many are no longer used for anything. Most of them were constructed in the 1950’s and serve basically no purpose today. It goes to show the importance of tearing these dams down, one by one...

1 Million Pounds Of Food On 3 Acres? It Can Be Done!

Meet Will Allen. Will, of the organization Growing Power, has designed an incredible aquaponics growing system that covers a 3 acre farm and produces a simply massive amount of food. 1 million pounds of food every year! Could you imagine making that much food in your yard?

It goes to show how abundant food could be if each of us stepped up and grew a little bit. It gets even easier when you grow it efficiently.

From the video:

…Growing power seems to have a winning combo going. I underestimated what they are doing. Based on the information in these videos, IF true, then on 3 acres they are producing 1,000,000 pounds of food each year! How are they doing this? Well, based on the information given in the video…

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder Bans Tesla Motors From Selling Cars In Michigan

rick_snyder
Michigan’s Republican governor, Rick Snyder, signed a bill on Tuesday that will keep Tesla Motors, the electric car maker, from selling cars directly to customers in the state. The law simply clarifies that no car manufacturers can directly sell in the state; all cars must be sold through franchised retailers.

No big deal, right? Well, not exactly. Michigan is now the 5th state with this rule. It also bans Tesla from operating “galleries,” or places where potential customers can go to view Tesla cars. They cannot discuss prices, take orders or take cars on test drives in these galleries.

The state’s Senate passed the bill 38-0, and the state house passed it 106-1. Tesla isn’t mentioned by name, but it’s clear that the legislation is directed at the company...

Monsanto Shareholder Meeting Infiltrated And Taped By Activist

There is a growing grassroots resistance to Monsanto, that much is clear. GMO labeling initiatives are on the ballot in Oregon and Colorado, and this amazing video, taken by Adam Eidinger, shows a Monsanto shareholder meeting. Eidinger also discusses the dangers and negative impact of GMO crops, roundup, and other Monsanto creations. A shocked Monsanto spokesperson, CEO Hugh Grant, brushes off the concerns and assures him that the company cares about the concerns of their shareholders.

Which, you know, obviously, but what about the rest of us? Eidinger follows up by asking how much Monsanto spends on crushing GMO labeling campaigns. They recently gave millions of dollars to the anti-GMO labeling campaign in Colorado.

What do you think? Is this a great expose of the company? Should GMOs be labeled? Or banned?

What Would Music Look Like If We Could See It?

Each musical note, in fact each sound, has its own unique signature. The CymaScope, a device that records vibrations produced by single notes, shows us what music would look like if we could see it.

“If our eyes could see music we would not see waves, as many believe, but beautiful holographic bubbles with amazing shapes resembling a kaleidoscope. The CymaScope allows us to see this this hidden beauty,” says the CymaScope’s creators, John Stuart Reid and Erik Larson.

Definitely a pretty cool invention. Give the video above a watch and let us know what you think! It features Pink Floyd too. How can you go wrong?

Wait, You Can Make A Car Out Of Hemp? Awesome!

Jeez, you can build a lot of things out of hemp, can’t you? We reported last week that a Canadian manufacturing company would be making a 75% hemp airplane for a Florida aviation company, and now this. Incredible! The Lotus is an amazing example of what you can do with hemp. I don’t know about you, but I want one!

Hemp is an easy to grow, cheap, and environmentally sound and sustainable building material. You can make fuel, food, building materials, paper, medication; just about anything. I was remarking to a pal just the other day that it seems like if it can be made, it can be made of hemp. This hemp car is helping that argument quite a bit.

Seems like the sky is the limit for hemp. Or…wait…hemp space ships maybe?...

Can You Heal Yourself With Positive Thinking? It’s Possible…With The Right Attitude

Dr. Mercola talks with Bruce Lipton explaining Epigenetics, or how your thoughts and the thoughts of people around you can influence your health and state of mind. It makes sense, doesn’t it? Have you ever noticed how a couple nasty thoughts can really ruin a day for you? Or how the negativity of someone around you can really bring you down?

It turns out, there’s some medical science behind this phenomenon. It goes to show that everything we do creates a ripple, like a pebble dropped into a puddle. So keep a smile on your face and be good to the people around you and yourself.

The Key To Understanding Rock Art May Be Hallucinogenic Plants

Dripping Springs 3-2009017
Recently, several dozen rock art sites have been documented in Southern New Mexico, and the discovery of this rock art comes with a botanical discovery as well:

These rock art sites are also home to hallucinogenic plants.

At one site, wild tobacco, which is a highly hallucinogenic plant, was found growing beneath a panel of rock art that depicted triangles painted in red and black. Experts think that these plants are actually remains from the times when shamans would smoke the leaves and paint their rock art...
