Ireland to Prosecute Former Anglo Irish Bank CEO for 2008 Economic Catastrophe

by Vandita, AnonHQ

Last year, Iceland set precedent by sentencing 26 top bankers to a combined 74 years in prison, for causing the 2008 global financial crisis. The unprecedented conviction of bad bankers sent a strong message across the world (none of America’s top bankers went to jail for the crimes that caused the 2008 financial crisis) that no individual is too big to investigate, and that it was possible to prosecute fraudulent bankers.

Taking cue from Iceland, Ireland is going to prosecute the 2005-2008 CEO of Anglo Irish Bank, David Drumm, on 33 criminal charges. These include two charges of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting relating to €7.2 billion in deposits placed in Anglo Irish Bank accounts by the then Irish Life and Permanent, between March and September 2008.

This is How Facebook ‘Accidentally’ Blocked DNC Email Leak Scandal

(ANTIMEDIA) — Once again, the impartiality of Facebook’s news feature is being called into question. This time, the social network claims it“accidentally” obstructed all links to the leaked Democratic National Committee emails published by Wikileaks just ahead of the party’s convention.

This past Friday morning, the infamous publisher of anonymous leaks released nearly 20,000 internal emails between members of the formal governing body of the Democratic Party. The news, where it was seen, provoked outrage, especially among supporters of Bernie Sanders, who was shown to have received unfair treatment by officially impartial party operators.

While social media outlets have helped facilitate the spread of uncovered information in the past, Facebook is no trusted ally of Wikileaks.

“@Facebook is blocking #DNCLeak email links,” Wikileaks tweeted Saturday evening, following other individual reports of Facebook suppressing the documents hours earlier.“Monday is the Democratic National Convention.”

Credible Evidence Indicates Russia Really Is Behind Massive Breach of DNC

by James Holbrooks, Underground Reporter

Washington, D.C. — On Monday, the FBI made official its investigation into the massive data breach of the Democratic National Committee, which resulted, among other things, in the resignation of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on the eve of the party’s convention.

“The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter,” the agency said in a statement. “A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the FBI will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace.”

The hack of nearly a year’s worth of DNC emails was made public over the weekend via WikiLeaks, and exposed alarming favoritism within the Democrat party toward Hillary Clinton — and an active attempt by officials to thwart the campaign of then-challenger, Bernie Sanders.

Fake CIA Agent & FOX News "Terror Expert" Sentenced to Prison for Lying to the Public for Years

by Matt Agorist , The Free Thought Project

A man who falsely claimed for decades to be a CIA agent and worked as the FOX News “Terror Expert” has now been sentenced to 33 months in prison, according to prosecutors, as cited by Reuters.

According to a U.S. District Attorney’s Office statement, Wayne Shelby Simmons of Annapolis, Maryland, was sentenced in a U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Virginia.

“Wayne Simmons is a fraud,” U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Maryland, Dana Boente, flatly stated. “Simmons has no military or intelligence background, or any skills relevant to the positions he attained through his fraud.”

U.S. District Judge T. S. Ellis III also ordered Simmons to serve three years of supervised release, pay restitution, and to forfeit two firearms and $176,000 in criminal proceeds.

Dear Sanders Supporters: Don't Kill Your Revolution by Voting for Hillary Clinton

by Nick Bernabe

(ANTIMEDIA Op-Ed) Dear Bernie Sanders supporters,

I was you in 2012. I put my blood, sweat, and tears into a presidential candidate who wound up getting screwed over by his own party, voter 'irregularities', the media, and the ‘inevitability’ mindset toward the ‘mainstream’ candidate that pervaded the voting public. His name was Ron Paul; you may have heard of him and the revolution he continues to inspire. But fret not, Sanders supporters, the revolution is also yours — if you can keep it.

Don’t let the Democratic party steal your thunder. You created this revolution because you know something is wrong with the United States, and you saw Bernie Sanders as your next best chance to fix it. You’re right — there is something wrong with America. Many things, in fact. From inequality to money’s control over politics (see: oligarchy), police brutality to never-ending wars, social inequity to economic insecurity … need I go on?

Monsanto Paid Senators $58 Million to Pass Anti-GM Labeling Bill

by bullseye, AnonHQ

An overwhelming majority of Americans say they want mandatory labeling of foods containing genetically modified ingredients. In a report published by the Mellman Group in November last year, 89% of the 800 peopled surveyed favored mandatory labels on “foods which have been genetically engineered or containing genetically engineered ingredients.”

Various surveys dating back to 2008 received a similar response: Around 90% or more people said genetically modified (GM) food should be labeled. This isn’t particularly surprising, whether or not people agree with GM foods, most people feel they have a right to be informed about what they’re putting in their bodies. At the heart of it, GM labeling is about giving people a choice.

The Solution That Needs to Be Talked About Now -- Police Have a Duty Not to Enforce Unjust Laws

by John Vibes , The Free Thought Project

It is often said that the police don’t write the laws but they just enforce them. This is usually used as an excuse for the immoral actions that police take while they are in uniform. They have been given orders by lawmakers to carry out these actions, and as a result, they believe that they no longer have moral responsibility for the actions they take.

It is true that the people who write the laws are at the root of our problems. However, it is obvious by now that lawmakers and politicians are entirely unapproachable, and are on a path that is unwavering by public opinion or moral considerations. These politicians are basically celebrities who are out of reach to the average person and they will not change their goals regardless of how hard people vote or fill out petitions.

Police on the other hand, are not unapproachable. They are not ruling class celebrities that are out of reach to the average person. Even though police like to think they are above the rest of us, they are still working class citizens, and their family and friends are still victims of the policies that lawmakers enact, and police enforce — including the police themselves.

The police are the final barrier between the common people and the ruling class, and this why the buck must stop with them.

Day Zero: US-Funded Textbooks Taught Afghan Kids The ABCs of Jihad

by CoNN, AnonHQ

Would you be surprised to hear that the US government was at least partly responsible for the birth of Islamic extremism as we know it today… by brainwashing Afghan children into becoming Jihadists?

While the US has influenced the Middle East since the first World War, it ramped up its intervention during the Cold War by aiding Osama Bin Laden. He led the Mujaheddin who would later become Al Qaeda (the root of modern-day extremist Islamic jihadist terrorism). Anything, it seems, was ethical as long as the Soviets were driven back.

This aid was widely believed by the informed public to have been limited to weapons and training of already-indoctrinated fully-grown extremist fighters. If only that was all the US did there though.

The Washington Post wrote an article awhile back, revealing how the US had also supplied textbooks filled with violent images and militant Jihadist teachings- featuring drawings of guns, bullets, soldiers and mines. These weren’t textbooks destined for fringe extremist madrasas  either; they were part of the Afghan core curriculum.

Virginia Overrides the Feds—Industrial Hemp Will Be Legal

by EV, AnonHQ

A bill has been passed by the Virginia state House of Delegates to make industrial hemp legal throughout the state, overriding federal government interference. While this is a positive step in the right direction, it comes with quite a few obstacles for industrial-hemp advocates that Congress has been slow to address.
