8 Tools to Open Your Heart and Cultivate a More Joyful life

8 Tools to Open Your Heart and Encourage a More Joyful life

By Carolanne Wright

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

Isn’t it wonderful when the heart is in balance, where feelings of love and appreciation, connectedness and compassion take center stage? But when this energetic balance is off-kilter, a darker side often emerges and we experience periods of depression, anger, jealousy, resentment or bitterness. Mainly, we just feel ornery towards ourselves and those around us.

If you would like to break this pattern of unpleasantness — or simply give your heart chakra a well-deserved tuneup — the following eight practices can help you cultivate a more joyful, openhearted approach to life.

Enlightenment – Becoming All That You Are

Enlightenment - Becoming all that you are - Copy

By Dr. Itai Ivtzan
Guest Writer for Wake Up World

Enlightenment. The E word. The state of consciousness all spiritual seekers hope for. And yet wishing for enlightenment is a wonderfully paradoxical experience: craving the state of non-craving, trying for effortlessness. There is something fascinating about this conflict between “wanting” and the way it nullifies the state of enlightenment. And yet enlightenment is achievable, and it is much closer to us than we might imagine.

To realise how we could achieve it, we need to begin with an understanding of what is enlightenment. The concept of spiritual enlightenment is among the spiritual concepts that are most frequently contemplated, and often awakens controversy. An enlightened way of being represents the essence of spiritual transcendence. It means living a life in which analysis by the mind is continuously transcended, evading any interference. An enlightened existence means oneness with experiences, devoid of any duality, where the self is known to be an illusion, and life is experienced completely independently of it.

This Family Lives In Floating Fortress In The Middle Of A Bay

In Canada, about half an hour by boat off the coast of Tofino, British Columbia, live Wayne Adams and Catherine King, proud owners and operators of Freedom Cove.

Freedom Cove is an incredible off-grid float-home and garden constructed in a very colorful and artistic way.

This amazing magenta and turquoise float home consists of about 12 platforms, supporting several wooden structures, greenhouses, and living spaces that are all interconnected through a wooden pathway system. During the winter months there is enough rainwater collected for drinking, and in the summer there is a fresh water source in the form of a waterfall just across the bay. A hen house once existed here as well, but there were too many predators with easy access to the hens, so Wayne and Catherine decided to give up on livestock altogether.

We Are Infinite – Believe It!

By Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

You might not have heard of Gloria Wendroff’s “Heavenletters”, which are intuitively channeled messages that come directly from God (the highest source imaginable), but I think they’re among the most helpful messages out there.

I’m not as passionate about channeling as I once was, but I still follow and repost Gloria’s messages because they resonate a lot with me.

It doesn’t matter how you refer to God (I prefer the terms ‘Jah’ or ‘Source’), and it doesn’t even matter if you believe this omnipotent creator consciousness actually speaks through Gloria Wendroff or anyone else. Either way, you can empower yourself if you look within and expand your limits.

Science Shows Marijuana Can Help Kill Tumors, Federal Government Admits

The information war about marijuana may have turned a new page with the federal government’s acknowledgment of a recent study that found the plant can significantly reduce aggressive types of brain tumors when combined with radiation treatment, endorsing what medicinal marijuana advocates have long affirmed as its healing properties.

A team of researchers from St. George’s University of London recorded reductions in high-grade glioma masses — a deadly form of brain cancer — in mice. The mice’s tumors shrank after they were exposed to radiation in tandem with two marijuana compounds: THC, which creates the “high feeling,” and CBD, which has no psychoactive side effects. In their report, the researchers said that both cannabinoids made tumors more receptive to the radiation treatment, creating what lead author Dr. Wai Lui described to HuffPost as a “triple threat” approach.

Will 2015 Finally Be The Year That The Federal Government Legalizes Medical Cannabis?

Source: www.thelucidplanet.com | Original Post Date: March 12, 2015 –

Over half of the American population now lives in states where cannabis has been legalized for medical use, including 23 states and Washington DC, with an additional 12 states offering provisions for CBD- dominant strains (CBD stands for Cannabidiol, one of the active ingredients of the cannabis plant, used to treat seizures and spasms). And yet, cannabis remains a Schedule 1 controlled substance, still completely illegal under federal law.

In a groundbreaking turn of events this week, a bi-partisan coalition of Senators has brought us one step closer to the federal legalization of medical cannabis with the introduction of the Compassionate Access, Research Expansion and Respect States (CARERS) Act. On March 10th, 2015...

How To Create Your Own 1-Acre, Self-Sustaining Homestead

Source: www.earthporm.com | Original Post Date: April 11, 2014 –

There are endless ways to create your own self-sustaining homestead using 1-acre of land. Some people prefer to keep cows, goats, pigs and hens, while others prefer to keep animal livestock to a minimum, or none at all. With or without livestock, your home can provide you with most of your everyday needs.

Here’s a brief overview how you can turn one-acre of land into a self-sustaining homestead.

How To Raise A Dairy Cow

There are a multitude of pros and cons to keeping a cow on your self-sustaining homestead, although mostly pros if you are willing to put in the extra work. Cows can provide milk, meat and their rich manure makes a great natural fertilizer.

Fresh, all natural cow milk is healthy for you and your family, and it also benefits other livestock such as pigs and poultry. Cow manure will also promote better soil fertility so that your garden continually produces more delicious produce each year.

Image vs. Truth

Oh, the little pin-pricks of ego. Dozens a day. The sense of being overlooked, ignored, not honored fully, not even thought of, slighted as if you were unimportant and not worthy of notice, made small of or nothing of, uncared about, as if you were of no consequence, undermined, neglected, as if you don’t even amount to a hill of beans. Is this at all familiar to you? Do you have moments or even days of this? This is ego at its best which you know by now is at its worst.

I will tell you frankly that you deserve greater and higher regard. All of My children merit. You may have the idea that, if you were important, had a high position, perhaps were extremely wealthy, or a famous opera singer, movie star, leader of a country, you would have the regard you so desire and deserve. If the red carpet were laid down for you everyday, if your presence parted waves in a crowd, if you had a parade of governmental cars with flags before and after you, you still would yearn for a true appraisal of you and not just your perceived status.

Triple Water Astrology – The Critical Degree! Weekly Horoscope – Week Starting Friday, April 10, 2015

moon goddess A3 final water

Please like my page at http://www.facebook.com/triplewaterastrology!

Transiting Sun continues to move through Aries this week and he edges rather close to the end of the first sign of the zodiac by the week’s end. Meanwhile, both Mercury and Venus change signs, in the midst of several long-standing themes among the slower moving planets. Opportunities abound! Venus in Gemini, Mercury’s sign, suggests a new emphasis on social networking (not necessarily limited to the internet), and Mercury in Taurus – Venus’ sign – is persistent and grounded, a solid basis for using logic and communicating. Mercury and Venus in each other’s signs create strong “cooperative commerce” and “collaborative networking” type themes this week.

Jupiter and Saturn’s trine in fire signs is slowly crawling to an end, but the “controlled expansion” theme and Saturn and Neptune’s “making dreams into a reality” through difficult work makes Saturn a popular planet this week and complements the Mercury-Venus theme well.

The Healing Power of Animals

Anyone with a pet would agree that animals have healing powers. They fill your home with love, they bring families together and studies have also shown that they can improve your health.

As Florence Nightingale stated back in the 1860’s- “a small pet is often an excellent companion for the sick, for long chronic diseases especially.”

Today, we still know this to be true and science is still testing out the different healing benefits that having an animal can provide.

One study published in the American Journal of Cardiology found that men who suffered from heart attacks were more likely to survive if they owned a dog. Another study found that having a pet can lower your blood pressure in just six months.

A Zen Master asked a newcomer, "From where are you coming?" and the newcomer said, "The trees are green, and flowers have bloomed, and it is tremendously beautiful here." Now this is the answer of one who knows. The man is saying, "I am not coming from anywhere; I have always been here. "

Raman Maharshi was dying, and the disciples started crying and weeping, naturally. Raman opened his eyes and he said, "Why are you crying?" One disciple asked, "Bhagwan, where will you be going?" Raman said, "What nonsense are you talking about? I am going to be here. I have not come from anywhere and I am not going anywhere. I have always been here and I will always be here. "

Because the innermost core is eternal, it never comes, never goes. It has no birth, no death. If you know, then your answer will be this.

Why Bother Meditating When There’s So Much To Do?

Why Bother Meditating When There’s So Much To Do?

By Dr. Elise Bialylew
Guest Writer for Wake Up World

I’ve been meditating for many years but there are still days when I feel like it’s just something I need to tick off the ‘to do’ list. On some days, particularly when I’m in the middle of a big project, it can feel hard to put even ten minutes aside for meditation practice. The driven voice in my head tries to convince me that this practice of pausing and connecting with presence, is a waste of time. It’s a compelling voice particularly on days when it feels like there are so many urgent things to do…

But it’s especially on those days, when I manage to recognise those sabotaging thoughts for what they are, that I find so much benefit from meditating.
