Your Skin Can "Smell" Sandalwood Which Triggers Healing

How does your skin smell? Pretty well, as it turns out, thanks to receptors dotted all over you. What's more, they could help you heal.

There are more than 350 types of olfactory receptors in the nose, tuned to different scents. About 150 are also found in internal tissues such as those of the heart, liver and gut, but they are hard to study.

Hanns Hatt's lab at Ruhr University Bochum in Germany focused on skin, which is easier to study, and tested the response to scents of receptors in keratinocytes, the main skin cell type.

They found that Sandalore – a synthetic sandalwood oil used in aromatherapy, perfumes and skin care products – bound to an olfactory receptor in skin called OR2AT4. Rather than sending a message to the brain, as nose receptors do, the receptor triggered cells to divide and migrate, important processes in repairing damaged skin.

First Detroit, Now Baltimore: City Will Shut Off Water To 25,000 Starting In 2 Days

Source: www.thinkprogress.org | Original Post Date: April 4, 2015 –

Starting this week, 25,000 households in Baltimore will suddenly lose their access to water for owing bills of $250 or more, with very little notice given and no public hearings.

Rita, a renter in Southeast Baltimore who asked to remain anonymous for this story in order to protect her two children from being taken away, told ThinkProgress she was served with a shutoff notice last week. Maryland law states that a child that is “neglected” may be taken out of his or her home and put into foster care. One characteristic of “neglect” as defined by the Maryland Department of Human Resources is a child with “consistently poor hygiene” that is “un-bathed, [having] unwashed or matted hair, noticeable body odor.”

Sweden Runs Out Of Garbage, Forced To Import From Norway

Imagine a world where pollution is a non-issue, cities are pristine, healthy environments to live in, and little to no entanglements from discarded trash injures wildlife or clogs the oceans. In Sweden, this is almost a reality, yet it’s causing a paradoxical predicament for the recycle-happy country that relies on waste to heat and provide electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes.

The Scandinavian nation of more than 9.5 million citizens has run out of garbage; while this is a positive – almost enviable – predicament for a country to be facing, Sweden now has to search for rubbish outside of its borders to generate its waste-to-energy incineration program. It’s namely Norway officials who are now shipping in 80,000 tons of refuse annually to fuel the country with outside waste.

The Power Of Our Thoughts On Water

Source: www.themindunleashed.org | Original Post Date: July 26, 2013 –

the-power-of-our-thoughts-on-water

The hypothesis that water “treated” with intention can affect ice crystals formed from that water was pilot tested under double-blind conditions. A group of approximately 2,000 people in Tokyo focused positive intentions toward water samples located inside an electromagnetically shielded room in California. That group was unaware of similar water samples set aside in a different location as controls. Ice crystals formed from both sets of water samples were blindly identified and photographed by an analyst, and the resulting images were blindly assessed for aesthetic appeal by 100 independent judges. In conclusion, the present pilot results are consistent with a number of previous studies suggesting that intention may be able to influence the structure of water. Here is a photo of the effects direct states of conscious intention has on the structure of water.

Is Geoengineering Pushing Us Into Climate Chaos?

Is Geoengineering pushing us into climate chaos? The short answer is yes. Here’s how…

Start with something dynamic, like the weather and its increasing propensity toward sudden, drastic and lingering surprises. As the geological record of mass extinctions repeatedly shows, if pushed too far by various atmospheric conditions (like mass methane releases or meltwater shutdowns of ocean circulations), the longer-term weather patterns we call ‘climate’ can change drastically, for a very long time, within a decade. Or a year.

Daily Message ~ Sunday April 5, 2015

A powerful thing happens when you focus on the perfection of everything. You become a wonderful support to the world, others, and yourself. You energetically encourage and uplift everything, with your unwavering focus of the wellness and wholeness of all. We cannot think of a more beautiful gift to give, than to see others in their true capability and glory, and to encourage others to see themselves in the same way. That really is a form of resurrection, isn’t it? ~Archangel Gabriel

Baby Geniuses: How Surprises Help Infants Learn

When babies encounter a new object, their method of making its acquaintance tends to involve banging it against the nearest hard surface or shoving as much of it in their mouths as possible. While this is slightly less adorable when the object in question is, say, a brand-new iPhone, adults can take solace in the fact that it might mean the kid is learning something new.

According to a study published Thursday in Science, babies learn by being surprised by the objects around them.

For this totally cute research endeavor, scientists showed a group of 11-month-olds a series of objects behaving in surprising and predictable ways. For example, the researchers would roll a ball down a ramp and show it being stopped by a wall. Then they would roll the same ball down a similar ramp, but this time they'd make it seem like it had passed through the barrier. They also made an amazing video of the babies watching this happen:

Miracles That God Has Wrought

Tell Me, is there a moment of life that is not a miracle? This moment, for instance, as I commune with Myself called you, is this not a miracle appearing?

Here, with Our hearts and minds, We commune as if We are two when We have never been anything but One. Of course, you appear as a human being in a costume called a body. Right now as I appear as you, you are, in a sense, out of your body. I can say that We are having an out-of-body experience, for your body, the form you carry, isn’t present here with Us now.

It is your heart and mind, mostly the heart, that you commune with and that I also commune with as My One Self. And, oh, yes, there is soul which has no costume whatsoever. Your mind could fake, possibly your heart could fake with so-called others yet not with Me. You cannot even conceive of stretching Truth or gilding the lily with Me.

I wanted to talk about miracles, a hundred-thousand miracles a day. Isn’t it a miracle that you gather a body around you altogether that can be said to appear? That you can sit down or stand up? What on Earth exists but miracles? You can also sit up. You can stand down. You can grow. There are bicycles, and you can ride them.

You can read books, and you can write them.

You can imagine. You can remember, and you can forget.

You can have upsets. You can be furious one moment, and love the next.

You can laugh. You can cry. You can make sounds. You can make speech with your heart, mind, and tongue.

A great teacher is one who uses all kinds of living situations to provoke awareness in you - but then there are bound to be problems. Then society feels angry. It is perfectly happy if you go on talking about the Koran, the Bible, the Vedas, because it doesn't do anything in the world; the reality remains the same, the vested interests remain the same. Nothing is harmed; on the contrary, all this spiritual talk helps the vested interests. It is safer if people are religious, because the so-called religious people are afraid people. They can't make any revolution, they can't move in any rebellion.

They can't disobey, because all these religious teachers and commentators go on teaching them the beautiful world of absolute obedience, conformity, contentment. They always go on teaching you how to become imitators, they don't teach you how to become authentic.

The authentic person will always be in conflict with the vested interests. If he wants to be authentic and true, he is bound to come in conflict with a false society. With whatsoever is false, he is bound to come in conflict.

Releasing Unexpressed Emotion

Emotional State

Randi G. Fine, Contributor
Waking Times

“Unexpressed emotion will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.” ~Sigmund Freud

Most of the feelings that interfere with our lives today, our negative emotional responses, have little to do with what is occurring in the present. They stem from painful childhood memories that lie buried deep inside of us, ones that have yet to be faced and dealt with.

When these memories are subconsciously triggered, all rationality goes out the window. We become hypersensitive, rigid, irrational, and insecure. We become out of control, emotional wrecks.

True

Some of you may spend your time appeasing others, walking on eggshells, attempting to keep the peace or holding yourselves back for fear of being judged.  Stop, take a moment and really look at those situations with another’s eyes.  Is it really necessary to do all those things just so those around you will be what you perceive as comfortable?  The majority of the time your thoughts on this will be deceiving.
Why not be yourself? Dance in public when no one else is dancing, laugh out loud, smile at strangers (because they really are not strangers), be kind because you feel like it and quiet when you do not.  Be true to yourself because you are the only you you have! ~ Creator

These 20-Year-Olds Turned Their Van Into A Mobile Laundromat To Wash Clothes For The Homeless

Source: www.trueactivist.com | Original Post Date: April 3, 2015 –

Realizing not enough is being done to meet homeless peoples’ hygienic needs, these two friends put an ingenious idea to work and are now helping many people in Australia.

Sometimes the best thing you can do to help others is to assist them with the little things, which – believe it or not – make a great deal of difference.

Imagine being homeless and trying to get back on your feet – yet feeling extremely self-conscious of the state of your clothes when seeking out new opportunities. The two definitely don’t mix, which is why two good-Samaritan friends created a brilliant way to help the homeless re-gain confidence and also feel more optimistic about their situation. They did this by turning their van into a mobile laundromat to give those without an opportunity to wash their clothes safely.

Five Ways to Practice Ruthless Mindfulness

024 Reader beware! My softness has teeth. My vulnerability does not come without a tempest’s thunder. Real probability of spiritual trepidation and soul-wrenching transformation, from which there will be no turning back. Proceed with caution…

Despite what you might think, fierceness, fearlessness and ruthlessness are all possible without resorting to violence. The world doesn’t need more trigger-happy militarized crackpots with nationalism and patriotism scrambling their brains into exploitable soup.

It needs compassionate, but fierce, Eco-conscious spirit warriors with the courage to challenge the powers-that-be, while also bringing tonality to an otherwise atonal world using progressively sustainable solutions that reveal how a healthier world is possible.

The Truth About Plastic – Infographic

]]>

Plastic can you imagine a day without it? It has come to be a component of nearly everything we buy and use, it seems. On the one hand, plastic has made things possible that might not have been possible. On the other hand, there are a few major problems (at least) with its widespread use:

  1. It lasts longer than we can adequately comprehend.
  2. It causes harm to countless animals and fish that try to consume it or get entangled in it.
  3. Much of it contains hormone-disrupting chemicals that negatively affect humans.
