Portugal Cut Addiction Rates in Half by Connecting Drug Users With Communities Instead of Jailing Them

Fifteen years ago, the Portuguese had one of the worst drug problems in Europe. So they decriminalized drugs, took money out of prisons, put it into holistic rehabilitation, and found that human connection is the antidote to addiction.

The Opposite of Addiction Is Connection

This gives us an insight that goes much deeper than the need to understand addicts.

Professor Peter Cohen argues that human beings have a deep need to bond and form connections. It’s how we get our satisfaction. If we can’t connect with each other, we will connect with anything we can find—the whirr of a roulette wheel or the prick of a syringe. He says we should stop talking about ‘addiction’ altogether, and instead call it ‘bonding.’ A heroin addict has bonded with heroin because she couldn’t bond as fully with anything else.

What Is Spiritual Bypassing?

Spiritual bypassing is a very persistent shadow of spirituality, manifesting in many forms, often without being acknowledged.  ~ R. Augustus

What comes to mind when you think of ‘spirituality’?  You might picture beautiful temples, ethereal instruments, golden Buddha’s, gardens and forests of paradise, the faces of enlightened masters, angels, mountain ranges, sunsets, or any number of other dazzling images.

We tend to associate spirituality with transcendental, heightened states of being that are invariably associated with the feelings of happiness, joy, deep inner peace and contentment.

While all of this is true and wonderful, many of us become intoxicated, distracted and ensnared by these highly attractive images of spirituality, avoiding the darker, painful and more exhausting sides of such a path.

At its core, spiritual bypassing is like any other form of avoidance that rewards us with a false feeling of security and happiness, while undermining our deeper path of self-growth and transformation.

This Electromagnetic Field Around Every Person Is Depleted In Those Who Are Unhealthy

Since ancient times we have seen pictures and paintings of different spiritual leaders across various traditions but one thing that is common among all of them is the halo that surrounds their head which is known as the Aura- energy field. Many have dismissed Auras, especially those professed to be experts in natural sciences. However, with the assistance of highly sensitive cameras scientists have been able to photograph this field some experts believe could become a tool for use in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases.

This aura represents your physical, mental, emotional as well as spiritual energies. The aura is often seen a mix of fine coloured frequencies where each colour defines its own individual nature and characteristics.

The vibration of this aura is very fine and subtle so we need very fine instruments to detect it and also to interpret the different colours and shapes in the aura which can reveal us a lot of unsaid information.

Creating Consciousness to Grow in Presence Power

By Eckhart Tolle

In ordinary unconsciousness, habitual resistance to or denial of what is creates the unease and discontent that most people accept as normal living. When this resistance becomes intensified through some challenge or threat to the ego, it brings up intense negativity such as anger, acute fear, aggression, depression, and so on. Deep unconsciousness often means that the pain-body has been triggered and that you have become identified with it. Physical violence would be impossible without deep unconsciousness. It can also occur easily whenever and wherever a crowd of people or even an entire nation generates a negative collective energy field.

The best indicator of your level of consciousness is how you deal with life’s challenges when they come. Through those challenges, an already unconscious person tends to become more deeply unconscious, and a conscious person more intensely conscious. You can use a challenge to awaken you, or you can allow it to pull you into even deeper sleep. The dream of ordinary unconsciousness then turns into a nightmare.

Living Close To Trees Comes With A Number Of Health Benefits

Trees are one of nature’s many wonders. They’re beautiful to look at and can house animals and produce fruits that we enjoy; they also provide us with shade when we need it on those hot and hazy summer days. As if that weren’t enough, new research from the University of Exeter has concluded that being around trees makes us happier, functioning as a natural antidepressants.

The study found that antidepressants were prescribed less frequently in areas in London which have more trees. To gain this information, researchers gathered data for antidepressant prescriptions across London in 2009-2010 and then compared that data with the numbers of street trees in the same area. They soon discovered that antidepressant prescriptions were significantly lower in areas which housed a higher concentration of trees.

Optimistic people have healthier hearts, study finds

People who have upbeat outlooks on life have significantly better cardiovascular health, suggests a new study that examined associations between optimism and heart health in more than 5,100 adults.

"Individuals with the highest levels of optimism have twice the odds of being in ideal cardiovascular health compared to their more pessimistic counterparts," said lead author Rosalba Hernandez, a professor of social work at the University of Illinois. "This association remains significant, even after adjusting for socio-demographic characteristics and poor mental health."

Participants' cardiovascular health was assessed using seven metrics: blood pressure, body mass index, fasting plasma glucose and serum cholesterol levels, dietary intake, physical activity and tobacco use - the same metrics used by the American Heart Association to define heart health and being targeted by the AHA in its Life's Simple 7 public awareness campaign.

What Science Is Telling Us About The Heart’s Intuitive Intelligence

The wonderful and brilliant scientists over at the Institute of HeartMath have done some amazing work in shedding light on some very significant findings regarding the science of the heart.

The Institute of HeartMath is an internationally recognized nonprofit research and education organization dedicated to helping people reduce stress, self-regulate emotions and build energy and resilience for healthy, happy lives. HeartMath tools, technology and training teach people to rely on the intelligence of their hearts in concert with their minds at home, school, work and play.

A large portion of their research has investigated heart and brain interaction. Researchers have examined how the heart and brain communicate with each other and how that affects our consciousness and the way in which we perceive our world. For example, when a person is feeling really positive emotions like gratitude, love, or appreciation, the heart beats out a certain message. Because the heart beats out the largest electromagnetic field produced in the body, researches are able to gather significant data from it. According to Rolin McCratey, Ph.D, and director of research at the Institute:

Here’s What The Scientists Say About Raw Milk, Your Immunity and Prevention of Colds and Infections

...latest studies suggest that people people can benefit from raw milk consumption.

The study published in the popular medical magazine The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology claims that raw milk consumption can help children from viruses, colds and respiratory tract infections, while processed milk has no effects or almost no effects in these cases.

A large group of doctors, researchers and medical experts from Europe conducted this study. Their focus was to compare and determine the effects of raw milk and compare them with the ones produced by boiled fresh milk and processed milk found in the stores. This study was only a fragment of the huge investigatory project called “PASTURE”. It was conducted on women, around 50% of them living and working on farms in central Europe.

Interesting fact is that they were all pregnant in their third trimester and the study was centered on their lifestyle patterns like milk drinking habits. The study also involved around 1000 children and the results confirmed that raw unprocessed milk is undoubtedly better than processed milk, when it comes to immune system improvement.

World Renown Chefs Meet with Lawmakers to Urge GMO Labeling

Foodies everywhere – rejoice! Finally, your favorite chefs are adding some heat to GMO labeling efforts. A host of celebrity chefs have taken to Capital Hill to urge members of Congress to support legislation that would require the labeling of genetically modified foods. While it isn’t an effort to ban them – it’s a great start.

Tom Colicchio who co-founded the Gramercy Tavern in New York City, José Andrés, part of ThinkFoodGroup, and Sam Talbot of Integrated Kitchen, among other celebrity chefs have delivered a petition to support Americans in their right to know exactly what is in their food.

Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., an organic farmer who joined the chefs in their meetings with lawmakers, said:

“Americans need to know, on a very basic level, what they’re eating. It’s critically important; it shouldn’t be guesswork. It’s truly a question of basic transparency.”

Colicchio, founder of Craft and Colicchio & Sons restaurants and a judge on Bravo’s popular show, “Top Chef,” says the chefs’ involvement in the GMO issue cuts to the core of the culinary industry.
