How People From All Over The World Define Beauty. (Video)

by Alexa Erickson, Collective Evolution

You know the saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”?

While fundamentally profound and positive in meaning, when you pick it apart, it can suddenly dampen the mood.

Beauty may, indeed, be in the eye of the beholder, but the majority of today’s beholders are influenced by societal standards, taught to think beauty takes only one form. For decades, new waves of media have changed what we perceive as beautiful. One minute it’s very thin, the next very strong. Dark skin or light skin, curly hair or straight hair, lots of makeup or no makeup, this fashion over that fashion… it’s difficult to keep up, and that’s why you shouldn’t.

Beauty may be a preference, but there are so many layers holding us back from seeing REAL beauty.

And then there is the idea of how culture plays a part. Culture is its own beast, for better or for worse, and it often defines how we see beauty. From country to country, different standards determine what we find beautiful. With this in mind, Blaine, a producer from Cut, traveled around the world asking people to define beauty.

New Research Shows That Plants Detect Vibrations & Use Sound To Find Water & Survive

by Alexa Erickson, Collective Evolution

Do you have a green thumb? Many people who do believe that it’s all about intuition Much like parenting, you are responsible for nourishing the plants you grow with the utmost care, or else they’ll die. Proper food, proper environment, and so on make for a healthy living thing. But some people feel they’re just not cut out for the job, claiming every plant they bring home just dies on them — that plants simply don’t like them.

I never considered myself to have a green thumb, but I also never thought otherwise, either. Naturally drawn to plants, I wanted them to fill up my home, my front yard, my back yard. I didn’t buy books and I didn’t make them flourish with Miracle Grow. I test their soil regularly, water them when needed, prune them when the time comes, and, above all else, I pay attention to them by loving them. I talk about my plants, talk to my plants, and feel their leaves like they have a magical dust I can inherit. Sound weird? Maybe to some.

The Woman That’s Changing The Lives Of Melbourne’s Homeless By Buying Them Houses

by Kalee Brown, Collective Evolution

When you grow up with so much privilege, and are surrounded by people within the same or similar social class as you, it can be easy to take things for granted. We get so stressed out and consumed by our daily lives that we often forget to express gratitude for the little things in life. We take so much for granted, especially the smaller things that create the foundations of our lives: the food on our tables, the beds we sleep in, the people we surround ourselves with, and the list goes on. It’s ironic that many of us even refer to these things as “small,” because they could literally change someone’s entire world.

Can you imagine not living in a home, never experiencing the comfort of your own bed, or being stripped of enjoying your own living space? Well, the sad reality is that over a billion people lack adequate housing. While we’re deciding whether or not to lay down carpet or hardwood on our floors, millions of people are struggling without a place to call home. This sobering fact can really put things into perspective.

Daan Roosegaarde Introduces Smog-Sucking, Air-cleaning Bikes

by Alexa Erickson, Collective Evolution

Bikes have long been considered the eco-friendly version of transportation. In a day ruled by planes, trains, and automobiles, it’s nice to see someone biking to and from work or for doing errands. But what if bikes were more than just a method of environmentally-friendly transportation? What if they were environment enhancing, too?

The answer to that question lies in the hands of Daan Roosegaarde. The Dutch artist and innovator has, along with a team of experts, created new smog-sucking bicycles, the brainchild of the Smog Free Project. Already known for his Smog Free Tower, a smog-sucking vacuum tower in China that has been getting positive feedback, he has now created smog-sucking bicycles that could work similarly with the Smog Free Tower — absorbing dirty air, cleaning it, and then releasing it back out as fresh air.

Crowd Goes Silent As Actor Kurt Russell Shares His UFO Experience From Phoenix In 1997

by Arjun Walia, Collective Evolution

Everybody always says, “if they’re here then why don’t they just show up.” “They” is referring to extraterrestrials of course, and there are probably a million reasons as to why a more intelligent race from the “outside” looking in would not want to interact with us on such an open level just yet. To an outsider, we might not look the most attractive. The planet is plagued with war, poverty, diseases, greed, and secrecy. Environmentally it’s a disaster, and despite the fact that our potential is literally limitless, we choose to live in a way that is not really harmonious with the planet and all life on it. These are just a few of many reasons. Not to mention the fact that full blown contact might be a little more than our minds can handle, but perhaps not?

All of the theories surrounding the “alien takeover” agenda fail to account for the evidence that points to the fact that they’re already here, and that they’ve been visiting us for a very very long period of time.

“There Have In-Fact Been Face To Face Meetings With Extraterrestrials” – An Incredible Story From A Reliable Source

by Arjun Walia, Collective Evolution

Paul Hellyer,  Canada’s former Minister of Defence, has been creating awareness about the fact that we are not alone, and that an extraterrestrial presence has been identified by the nations of this world. For those who are still unaware that there is actually, using the worlds of ex-astronaut and Princeton Physics professor Dr. Brian O’leary, “abundant evidence that we are being visited,” it would be easy to label Hellyer as “crazy.” But for anybody reading this, just know that there are hundreds of high ranking people from within the military, politics, academia and more who are now doing the same as Hellyer. He is not alone, but in the company of many who have and do roam the highest levels of government and defence. You can check out the Disclosure Project to learn more about that.

“There is a serious possibility that we are being visited and have been visited for many years by people from outer space, from other civilizations. This should be the subject of rigorous scientific investigation and not the subject of ‘rubbishing’ by tabloid newspapers.”

Have You Seen This Rainbow Colored Village? Indonesian Government Paints 232 Slum Houses!

by Alexa Erickson, Collective Evolution

Housing communities have various stipulations owner’s must adhere to. On a recent trip, I asked a friend why every single house was the same color. The rules, they said, were to ensure no one painted their house a bright, or unsightly color.

Cars are not allowed on the streets, nor in the driveway, but must be parked in the garages overnight. Lawns must maintain a similar aesthetic from house to house. The list surely goes on. I felt like I was seeing black and white. The lack of differentiation disturbed me.

I am the type of person who, when I travel, the first thing that enchants me are colors. Brightly-colored murals painted on the side of buildings throughout a city make me happy art is being reimagined from the controversial graffiti to the now well-respected colors swallowing brick and cinderblock.

7 Ways Mindfulness Unlocks The Door To Your Authentic Life

by Christine Horner, Collective Evolution

Many people are alive but don’t touch the miracle of being alive.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh, The Miracle of Mindfulness

In between work, family, and social media, we take few precious moments to reflect upon our lives. Perhaps you purposely avoid looking at your life, because if you’re totally honest,  it can be brutal.

Notice the tsunami of judgmental thoughts that overwhelm your mind, causing stress and anxiety.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of worries are society’s programming as a byproduct of our modern world. Greater still is the personal dissatisfaction that arises out of internal turmoil driven by confusion.

Are you feeling confused?

UK Government To Release All “Secret” British UFO Sighting Files After Election Next Month

by Kalee Brown, Collective Evolution

It’s official: Britain has announced that it will be releasing previously classified information on UFO sightings in the United Kingdom once the general election is over this June.

According to Grenzwissenschaft-Aktuell, a “news blog on frontier science and the paranormal” that received the exclusive story, the government is expected to release formerly unpublished reports on UFO activity collected over the span of 50 years by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD).

This event has been greatly anticipated, especially since the announcement in 2014 when the MoD admitted to holding back 18 documents because some content needed to be “re-examined” before the organization could officially make it accessible to the public.
