Some have incredible mathematic abilities, others possess incredibly music gifts. Stephen, an accomplished artist, is able to draw unbelievably accurate portraits of cities from memory after only seeing them once.

A Layman’s Philosophy to Life

By Alex James Nicola

Now let's get off on the right foot. My philosophy is not one based on religion or some new age notion of long-forgotten mystical laws. My approach to life is simple. It is one of maturity, realism and positivity. I have always considered myself a spiritualist which in layman's terms means I do not restrict myself to one religion or belief but take them all into account and assume whatever I feel necessary. Life is a long journey of ups and downs and I think a healthy way to face all the varying chapters is to be open. Now I haven't always been so free. Like many people I grew up with the idea of this omnipresent man in the sky who judged my actions and punished me accordingly. This idea both terrified me and brought me relief.

3 Lessons I Learned from Denouncing My Religion

Article and Photo Courtesy of Sean Suddes

The spiritual quest is not some added benefit to our life, something you embark on if you have the time and inclination. We are spiritual beings on an earthly journey. Our spirituality makes up our beingness. -John Bradshaw
For nearly 17 yrs of my life I went to Catholic church every sunday with my family, and growing up I attended Catholic school for 6 years.

Catholicism was literally in my blood. The summers of my childhood were spent visiting 2 great aunts that were Catholic nuns and a great uncle who was a Catholic priest. Sadly all three have now passed away, but I always loved my visits with them.

As you can probably imagine it wasn't an easy decision to denounce my religion.

Before I continue please understand this article is NOT intended to persuade anyone to leave their religion. I don't think all religion is bad or good, it is your choice to believe and follow what you wish, and I respect that decision.

With that said, here are 3 life lessons I learned from denouncing my religion:

1) I am not my religion.

Scientists Demonstrate Remarkable Evidence Of Potential Dream Telepathy Between People

feature_image_template

Dream telepathy suggests that human beings have the ability to communicate telepathically with another person while they are dreaming. This isn’t a new concept, scientific interest in telepathy dates back to the fathers of the psychoanalytic movement. Freud, for example, considered telepathy and the implications of it with regards to psychoanalytic thought. He also considered dream telepathy, or the telepathic influence of thought on dreaming on multiple occasions. Carl Jung believed in the telepathic hypothesis without question, and even developed a theoretical system to explain “paranormal” events of this nature.

How Living Your Best Life Will Save the World

By Randi Fine
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Ghandi

We can no longer distract ourselves from doing the work each of us needs to do. We have to stop complaining about others. We must stop complaining about circumstances and do what is within our own power to fix ourselves. That is all it takes. If each of us did the work on ourselves that we came here to do, the world would radiate with love and light; the light that will crowd out the darkness. Darkness cannot possibly exist where there is light.

We all wonder what we can do to fix the world; to overcome the darkness that is spreading like wildfire on our planet. Truth be told, it is must easier to do than we might believe. We must each look within. We must each explore our own existence. We must ask ourselves how we can positively change that which is within our own grasp. That is all it takes. If each of us saved ourselves we could collectively save the world.

Subjective Reality part 1: Thinking Beyond Ego-Level Consciousness

By Jason Demakis

Here's a deep question for you: how do you choose to relate to the idea or concept of "self"?

When you think of "yourself", do you equate it to your body, mind, characteristics, personality, etc?

Or do you equate it to pure consciousness itself?

Many will go with option one, as it's what we're all conditioned to accept and not delve too far beyond.

But what if your true identity were consciousness itself…not everything else you've thought it to be your entire life?

What IS your true, core identity?
