The Tuatha De Danann: Were they Irish gods or aliens?

When I came to live in Ireland, it did not take long for me to fall in love with its misty landscape and scattered ancient ruins. They drew me in; I felt at once connected and intrigued. Leaving behind the realms of accepted Irish history I plunged into the shadowy domain of Irish mythology, and that was where I first encountered the Tuatha de Danann.

Stories of the Danann were passed down through the ages into legend via the ancient oral tradition of the poets. Later, Christian monks began assembling and recording them in an effort to produce a history for Ireland. Inevitably, these texts were influenced by their beliefs and doctrines, their translation skills (or lack of), and the desire to please their patrons. What we are left with is impossible to distil into fact and fiction.

These myths are so fantastic, so bizarre, that no scholar or historian worth his salt would ever entertain them as anything other than pure fantasy.

But I am not a scholar, and I don’t have to worry about academic reputation, and I say there is no smoke without fire.

In Turkey, Sufi music is used to decrease patient stress

The intensive care unit of Istanbul Memorial Hospital looks like any modern hospital anywhere. But it definitely doesn’t sound like one.

Dr. Bingür Sönmez, a cardiac surgeon for more than 30 years, plays traditional Sufi songs on the ney flute for his patients.

"What we are doing in intensive care, we are playing Sufi music to our patients to calm down, to make them feel much better,” he said.

Sufism is a mystic branch of Islam whose traditional music is popular among Turks. Sönmez said five centuries ago when Europeans were burning people alive for having mental illnesses, healers in the Ottoman Empire had a different approach.

“In this country, in Ottoman Empire times, we used to treat psychiatric patients with music in hospitals, in local hospitals,” Sönmez said. “So what we are doing is the same.”

Daily Message ~ Wednesday September 2, 2015

Faith and trust are the two integral energies that keep you in the surrendered movement of the flow. Because faith and trust help you move into acceptance and allowing (the knowingness that everything is always unfolding in a way that is divinely perfect), they anchor the energy of peace into your existence. Dear Ones, it is the practice of faith and trust – the knowingness that you are all loved, cared for, guided and supported, always, that will help you move into a deep appreciation and satisfaction with your lives. You will begin savouring your beautiful dance with the universe and experience more magic than you ever dreamed possible. ~Archangel Gabriel

Fear Of…..

Sometimes, your past experiences influence how you live now.  When you have experienced trauma, you may subconsciously be moving through your life in fear….fear of that situation, fear of this type of person or fear of what may be around the corner.  It is important for you to understand that even though you may have experienced trauma/fear earlier in your life does not mean that those situations will repeat themselves.  It may take some time and patience, but please know and understand that you have the ability to change your fear based thinking to something beautiful.  You were strong enough to survive your past, it is time to fully blossom in your future. ~ Creator

Night sky guide for September 2015

This month hosts two very interesting celestial events. First, a partial solar eclipse on September 13, visible only in southern Africa, Madagascar and Antartica. The second, total lunar eclipse on September 28 and the closest supermoon of 2015. This full Moon is also called the Harvest Moon, in northern hemisphere, and the Blood Moon, because it ends the current lunar tetrad - series of 4 consecutive total eclipses occurring at approximately six month intervals. The totality will last 1 hour and 11 minutes.

September equinox occurs at 08:21 UTC on September 23. This day will mark the first day of fall (autumnal equinox) in the northern hemisphere and the first day of spring (vernal equinox) in the southern hemisphere.

The best time of the month to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters is on September 13.

Foremost, Be Honest with Yourself

God said:

Please don’t say you have no time. Beloveds, it is never really a question of time. It is always a question of preference. Let Me repeat this once more: It is always a question of your choice.

You have every right to your priorities. Acknowledge priorities then. That you don’t have time is a cloud-screen to hide what is true.

You choose your priorities. There may be many reasons why you choose the priorities you do and why you do not choose the priorities you do not choose. It is best to be outright honest with yourself.

You prefer to sit and watch TV than you want to do your homework. The motivation to do homework takes a back seat.

You may say you just have no energy. It certain seems that way, yet if your boyfriend were to call to invite you dancing, how long would it take for your energy to bounce back?

There are matters you may well want to work on – composing music, exercising, or a class you want to take, and you don’t get down to it. Perhaps you are afraid of not being good enough and don’t want to fail. What if no one likes your music, and you are not good at it? On the other hand, perhaps you are afraid of being a success and resultant changes in your life. Success could be a headache as well.

Perhaps you simply like spare time doing nothing or not doing anything that hangs over you. Foremost, be honest with yourself.

If there is something you really want to do, why don’t you just do it? If you really do want to do it and not just like the idea of it, then why aren’t you doing it?

If you are, you will never see God. The very existence of the ego prevents seeing. The ego functions like a blindfold on your eyes. Then the sun rises, but you remain in darkness. The music goes on and on, but you don't hear a thing. You live in the ocean of love, but your heart is non-functioning, nothing is felt. No prayer arises, no gratitude, no ecstasy. You remain uprooted. You remain like a dying tree with no roots in the earth. You remain impotent; no fruits come to you, no flowers bloom.

And then of course life looks like a long, long drawn-out tragedy, and one starts wondering why one is alive at all; the whole thing seems to be so ridiculously meaningless.

That's what is being felt all over the world by all kinds of thinkers today: that life is meaningless, that man seems to be just an accident, that consciousness is just as accidental as any rock. There seems to be no meaning, no relevance. Not that there is no meaning, but man, as he is today, cannot see meaning. Meaning is another name for God.

How Dehydration Affects your Body

importance of water

Water is a basic necessity in order to maintain a healthy body and a clear mind. Since the human body is two third water, hydration affects almost all functions of the body – temperature control, cognitive functions, kidney function, physical performance, energy levels, gastrointestinal function, heart function, headache, skin and other chronic diseases.

If we were to ask you, whether you are hydrated right now or not, most of you would not know the correct answer to that. The general tendency to connect physiological thirst with water, is what makes us miscalculate the hydration levels. But to say how much water one should drink is a difficult thing, as it is a subjective measurement depending upon one’s lifestyle, physical activity level and energy expenditure.

'Crying Earth Rise Up’ premieres

By Talli Nauman

CRAWFORD, Neb. –– Lakota grandmother Debra White Plume didn’t set out to become a filmmaker. It never crossed her mind. She had no training in film school, yet she spent the past seven years of her life doggedly making a feature documentary that premiered just in time to serve its purpose.

“Crying Earth Rise Up,” a compelling case for preventing further uranium mining, showcased in Crawford, Neb., on Aug. 6 and 13, providing audiences with a panel of experts to discuss the issue immediately prior to the opening Aug. 24 of federal hearings on contested applications by Canadian mining giant Cameco Corp. for renewal and expansion of permits at nearby Crow Butte in situ leach operations.

“Making a documentary seemed the logical way to describe the issue, which is complicated and important,” said White Plume, founder and director of the non-profit Owe Aku (Bring Back the Way), which has raised money to help her intervene in the permit hearings of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (ASLB).

Owe Aku, a grassroots organization that seeks to protect “the coming generations' right to live as Lakota people,” is based at Manderson, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, 30 miles north of the Crow Butte mine fields.
