Anshu Jain, co-chief executive of Deutsche Bank, has a problem with his job — it’s ever so slightly embarrassing.

He told a conference of bankers in Germany this week that, in case they hadn’t noticed: “If you go to a party these days, you’re asked what you do and you say you’re a banker, people go all quiet.”

Spare a thought for bankers this office party season, then. When they hit the bars of Manhattan or London, there could be even more potential for social awkwardness than usual. And with more job cuts and a muted bonus season looming, there isn’t even as much cash for champagne to go around any more.

Chelsea Clinton

NBC News stopped Chelsea Clinton from appearing in an ad supporting same-sex marriage during the 2012 campaign, BuzzFeed reported on Thursday.

In August, Clinton told Vogue magazine that she is ready to embrace the more political aspects of her life, but her status as a "special correspondent" for NBC News appears to be getting in the way. Clinton has been on the NBC payroll since November 2011, working as a special correspondent. Though she has filed very few reports for the network, NBC has reportedly prevented her from making a series of political moves during the past year. In October, the New York Post claimed that Clinton had been virtually absent from the 2012 campaign trail because of her NBC job.

Virtual Choir

It all began with that single video by Britlin Losee, and my god how it has blossomed from there.

Our third Virtual Choir video, "Water Night", was released this past Spring and features 3,746 videos from 73 different countries. We pushed the technology much further this time, making it easier than ever for singers to join and submit their videos. We even offered voice lessons and tech master classes in Google hangouts, professional and amateur singers teaching and helping anyone who asked. And as always, there is no audition process: every single video submitted makes it into the final film.

Watch Eric Whitacre's talk above about a global choir that came together on YouTube and the power of crowd-sourced creativity.

LYNDHURST– It’s busy inside the Family Urgent Care Center on Mayfield Road. But what was discovered outside Monday morning made everyone pause.

“I got to work and was looking out my window and wondered, what is in the bus stop?  So I took a walk out to see what it was and there were three or four blankets, hats and a box of gloves,” said Nancy Panzero, who works at Urgent Care.

There was also a note that read, “Happy Thanksgiving. Take goves, hats, blankets, & stay warm.  Love, The Turkey Fairy,”

Inmates at Rikers Island load clothes and linens into a giant industrial washing and drying machine, which was installed in July.

There are plenty of unsung heroes in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, but the story of how those at New York’s least desirable address lent their muscle and might is perhaps among the most compelling.

KABUL, Afghanistan -- It was Army Sgt. Keith Wells' first Thanksgiving Day away from his family and despite a cornucopia of food provided for the troops, his taste buds were craving his wife's macaroni and cheese back home.

"My wife's a foodie – you know the Food Network, cooking shows. Everything she makes is golden," Wells of Charlotte, N.C., said Thursday at a large international military base in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
