The president of the tiny West African of Benin is dissolving his government in a surprise move without giving a reason.
According to a government statement read on national television late Thursday, President Boni Yayi has "put an end to the duties of all members of his government."
The announcement said a new governmental team would be put into place and a list of new ministers made public "very shortly."
Yayi was first elected in 2006 in a landslide vote, and won re-election in 2011 in the tiny West African nation. Authorities, though, say they thwarted a coup attempt against him late last year.
The suspects in that case are accused of plotting to swap the president's medicine with a toxic substance in exchange for millions of dollars.
