14 People Were Asked: What Does Life Mean To You? Their Answers May Surprise You

“The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.” – Alan Watts

The meaning of life is a burning question that has inspired some of the greatest literature/art, fueled heated debates between atheists and spiritualists, and prompted existential philosophers to wax poetic on what the human experience really means (or doesn’t mean). But… what does life really mean?

It is easy to find insightful opinions on this query from influential authors, teachers, sages, mystics, and scientists with a quick Google search – but, what about from our peers, or people we wouldn’t necessarily think to ask?

As an experiment, I decided to ask this question to a diverse group of friends, artists, creators, and strangers alike – and the results were really incredible.

Let Your Chakras Guide You to Your Deepest Yearning

by Priyanka Bakhru Talwar

The human story involves beginning with love, being wounded by those we love, seeking or escaping love, and then finally coming back to love. Every single aspect of our personality develops from this core, and it all starts with that first wound to the love in our hearts. The first blow in our formative years creates the original yearning to heal it, and so the shaping of our personality, beliefs and defense mechanisms begins. There are only two original yearnings -the yearning for belonging and the yearning for freedom. Both of which motivate us, drive us, torture us and fulfill us.

The Relationship of Our Chakras

Now, let’s study the relationship between the chakras, these soul yearnings and the emotional wounds that everything pivots around. The seven chakras can be the most magical guide to unearth our deepest yearning, and by association, the original wound to our innocent selves, which get formed during the formative early years of our lives. The first wounds are either abandonment or rejection.

Creative Forces In Our Past Life Energy

by Judi Lynch

Take a moment to think about the places your soul has traveled! In other lifetimes, you had a different name and face, yet acquired valuable knowledge, learned soul lessons and experienced human existence as a physical being much different than you are now. Consider the things you must have learned during your time there – incredible things you might have discovered, invented, imagined, drawn or invested in as well as people you helped to heal, thrive and live a better life. These were all things that are possibly unknown to you in this life; however, they defined you in another era of time on Earth.

Many times, when we ponder reincarnation and past life knowledge, we think of healing physical, emotional and mental trauma. If we take up the frequency and tap into creative force energies, we will gain insight into so much more!

The Gift of Life

Credit: Life-is-everything-us.blogspot.com

By Wes Annac, Culture of Awareness

Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, do we ever stop to remember how good we have it? Do we ever stop to think about how lucky we are to live relatively normal lives in places that, at the surface at least, seem stable enough to support our work to create a new paradigm?

We’re all in a great position to create the inner and outer changes that need made, and we could go about our work with a sense of gratitude for our existence if we could see that, in a sense, everything is exactly the way it’s meant to be.

We have life, and every day we’re given on this Earth is a blessing that we should not only appreciate, but utilize to the fullest extent.

Only when we can learn to love life can we share our love with the rest of the world, and until we repair everything in our life that keeps us from enjoying or appreciating it, we’ll have trouble creating change in the world.

There are a lot of bad things to be said about this planet, but there are a lot of good things too. There are things here that most people don’t even realize are around, because they never get out and expand their horizons.

Snowden: balance of power has shifted as people defy government surveillance

A “profound difference” has occurred over the past two years, following the leaking of NSA documents that led to revelations about US surveillance on phone and internet communications, whistleblower Edward Snowden has said.

Writing in the New York Times, the computer analyst said that the balance of power is changing as a post-terror generation “turns away from reaction and fear in favour of resilience and reason”.

Snowden said that bulk data collection programmes had been declared illegal and disavowed by the US Congress.

“After a White House-appointed oversight board investigation found that this program had not stopped a single terrorist attack, even the president who once defended its propriety and criticised its disclosure has now ordered it terminated,” he said in the piece, also published in the French newspaper Liberation.

New Zealand Now Recognizes ALL Animals As Sentient Beings!

A landmark decision by the Kiwis sets a precedent that other countries should follow.

New Zealand has just set a great example to the world by recognizing what animal lovers have known forever- that our furry friends are as sentient as we are, and (obviously, dur) they have feelings just like we do. It’s a theme we have covered time and again here at True Activist, but this landmark ruling by NZ is the first time this shift in perception and policy has been extended to all animals, not just chimpanzees, orangutans, or dolphins.

HUGE WIN: World’s Biggest Restaurant Chain Ditches Artificial Ingredients

Source: www.takepart.com | Original Post Date: June 4, 2015 –

Subway joins McDonald’s, Kraft, Nestlé, and Taco Bell as the latest head of the big food hydra to remove artificial ingredients from one or more of its items.

Now, when you order your turkey sub on wheat with extra banana peppers, not only will your bread be free of azodicarbonamide—the “yoga mat chemical” famously demonized by Food Babe—but your meat will be propionic acid–free, and your peppers will lack that signature, glow-in-the-dark yellow dye #5 hue. Subway will now use good old-fashioned vinegar to prevent its meat from spoiling and turmeric to make sure its pickles don’t look boring.

Akon Lighting Africa is the name of the new initiative being taken on by rapper Akon to eventually provide solar power to 600,000,000 African people and build a foundation for future prosperity.

Distinguished Scientists Gather To Emphasize: “Matter” Is NOT The Only Reality

A group of internationally recognized scientists have come together to stress the importance of what is still commonly overlooked in the mainstream scientific community – the fact that matter (protons, electrons, photons, anything that has a mass) is not the only reality. We wish to understand the nature of our reality, but how can we do so if we are continually examining only physical systems? What about the role of non-physical systems, such as consciousness, or their interaction with physical systems (matter)?

Fortunately, some scientists are studying non-physical systems, and the double slit experiment is a great example of  this. You can read more about that here. A paper published by Dean Radin, PhD, in the peer-reviewed journal Physics Essays, explains how this experiment has been used multiple times to explore the role of consciousness in shaping the nature of physical reality. (source)

Divine Nurturing: How to Mother Yourself with Help from the Sacred Feminine

remembering-earthA mother is often someone we take for granted as being nurturing, when in fact they can be anything but. There are emotionally unstable mothers, passionate mothers, embarrassing mothers, selfish mothers, overly human mothers, mothers who make mistakes, who always say the wrong thing, who are a little prickly or clumsy with their love, who seem detached, cold or are even outright cruel to US… Their children.

Sometimes mothers are entirely absent, parted by sorrow, misunderstanding or even death. Mothers are often a far cry from nurturing, and so, when needing to be nurtured, we can often feel strung out in the dark.

As if something has been severed from us but we’re not quite sure what. Like a phantom limb, our actions when we become mothers or are struck with the necessity to be nurturing ourselves, the gap can itch yet we feel lost as to how to deliver this kind of rare and divine love.

‘Killer Germs’ Obliterated by Medicinal Smoke (Smudging), Study Reveals

Waking Times

The ritualistic use of plant smoke stretches back to the prehistorical era and is still used, the world over, as a way of ‘cleansing’ the spirit. Now modern scientific research reveals that the practice may actually have life-saving implications by purifying the air of harmful bacteria.

The burning of herbs and plant resins for medicinal and spiritual purposes – so-called ‘smudging’ – is an ancient practice among indigenous people around the world; one increasingly adopted by Westerners. Smudging is a technology believed to unlock the ‘spirits’ of various plant allies to restore balance and ease to the individual or group.  Some liken it to taking a ‘spiritual shower,’ enabling you to wash away emotional and spiritual negativity that accumulates in your body and the spaces you live.

The Greatness of Life

God said:

Every single person on Earth, all people on Earth, have much to be grateful for if only they knew. Life is magic.

Life is as if you have gold and rubies on your neck and wrists, and you are thinking they are mere baubles made of plastic, and so you don’t know what you have, and you don’t yet value what is yours entwined within this illusive quality called life.

What a great thing to come into the Sun. What a great thing to long for the Sun. What a great thing to be under the Sun.

What a great thing to walk on Earth. And, oh, yes, the senses. They alert you, and they melt you. To think of the greatness of life - to be able to hear a loved one’s voice and to look into a loved one’s eyes. What a great gift to be able to touch and be touched. And to taste a peach and to smell a flower. Delicious are the senses. The senses aren’t everything, and, yet, they are incredible. Who could have dreamed of the whole concept of flowers let alone have flowers push their way up through the earth?

Tell Me, what is not amazing on Earth? That from an acorn a tree grows, that from a flower a scent comes, that sprouts grow, and water is wet? Aren’t these amazing miracles right before you?

And how your body moves. How the heart and mind direct you this way or that. To think of impulses and ideas. What Children of Riches be you.

And where do your impulses come from, and where are you going even when you may think you are not going anywhere?
