23 Astounding Portraits of the World’s Vanishing Tribes

disappearing-tribes

For three years, from 2010 to 2013, Jimmy Nelson explored the world to take snapshots of tribes that are unknown to the many. Sadly, at this point in time, the tribes are at risk of vanishing because of the perils they are facing. Most of these risks are brought about by commercial development, which causes problems like climate change and deforestation, among others.

Curiosity is good as a triggering point for a quest, but there are many people who simply remain curious their whole life. Their life is a wastage; they are rolling stones - they never gather any moss.

They remain childish, they never become mature. They ask a thousand and one questions, but they are not really interested in answers. By the time you have answered them, they have prepared another question. In fact, when the Master is answering the question, if the disciple is only a curious one, he is already thinking about other questions to ask. He is not listening to the answer at all. He is not interested in the answer, he has enjoyed asking the question.

And then your curiosity can get you hooked on something utterly nonsensical. There are people who are curious as to who made the world. Now this is utter nonsense. Buddha said it so many times, that "How is it going to affect your life? It is not going to deepen your meditation, it is not going to help you become enlightened, it is not going to give you freedom, it is not going to give you any light; why are you concerned with who made the world?" Whether it was A or B or C, a Christian God, a Hindu God or a Mohammedan God, how does it matter to you? Even if it is decidedly known that A made the world, what are you going to do then? Then you will start asking something else; that question is finished.

But these questions are never finished, because these questions are utterly meaningless, absurd - so they are never finished. One can go on asking and asking and asking, and the whole life can become just a wastage.

THE REALITY OF BEING IS LOVE

THE MIND INSTILLS DOUBT AND DOUBT IS WHERE ISOLATION AND SEPARATION EXIST, NO DOUBT, ZERO MIND.

HUMANITY SEEMS TO NEED TO LET GO OF THEIR PAST, THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR THEM, IF IT DID THEY WOULD STILL BE LIVING THERE IN REALITY. LOL

THE ENERGY USED IN THE ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE PAST EVEN MAKES THE SUN HUMBLE.

THE REALITY OF BEING IS LOVE. NOW IS WHERE LOVE IS. IS THAT TOO SIMPLE?

IT IS THE BALANCE OF ALL EQUATIONS, LOVE IS MORE THAN JUST A WORD ONCE ONE LIVES IT, PRESENTLY.

WHAT IS A HUMAN BEING HU+MAN BE+ING? A QUANTUM OF CONSCIOUS ENERGY AWARE ENOUGH TO FIND ITS SELF. I WONDER WHAT'S MISSING IN THAT? CREATION IS AMAZINGLY ACCURATE IN CREATING THE NOW.

I SHARED A GIFT, LOVE IS THE REALITY, HUMANITY RECEIVES THE GIFT, REALITY.

EACH REALITY IS WHAT MAKES UP THE WHOLE REALITY, AS EVEN ONE HYDROGEN ATOM IS EXACTLY WHERE IT IS AS WELL AS BEING EVERYWHERE AS ENERGY.

THIS IS WHERE ENERGY AND CONSCIOUSNESS ARE ONE.

WHERE ELSE CAN NOW BE, BUT IN THE ONE?

ALL ONES ARE EQUAL. THE EQUALITY IS GREATER THAN THE SUM OF THE PARTS, JUST LIKE REALITY.

FEEL HUMANITY NEEDS TO WTFU, AND REALIZE THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE.

ANYTHING ELSE IS GRANDSTANDING.

THE "SAVING GRACE" FOR HUMANITY IS, THEMSELVES. UNITY IS EQUALITY.

“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” ~Winston Churchill

The day started out beautifully. My friends Shaun, Tina, and I decided to take advantage of a sunny Saturday afternoon with a hike along Ontario’s Bruce Trail. We parked our cars at the trail access, laced up our boots, and headed out for a day of wandering through sun-dappled fields and forests.

Mystery plasma blobs lurk in deep space and no one knows why

We're homing in on the blobs from outer space.

In the past three decades astronomers have seen dips in the radio signals from quasars and pulsars, seemingly caused by a dark object passing by. These events don't all look the same, so it isn't clear if they share a cause. Sometimes different radio frequencies are delayed by different amounts, while other times the radio signal twinkles.

Now new observations are giving us a clearer picture. Bill Coles of the University of California, San Diego, and his colleagues used the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array, which carefully measures pulsar signals in an attempt to detect gravitational waves. The team used it to look for radio waves held up by a passing blob.

Violently turbulent clouds

They saw both time delays and twinkles from pulsars at the same time. That suggests the different phenomena may be coming from the same thing – violently turbulent clouds.

"This is an interstellar cloud way out in the middle of nowhere," Coles says. "It makes a person wonder – what the hell is that out there?"

5 Societal Illusions That We Accept As Reality

by Luke Miller

A lot of the world we see around us is an illusion. If you take any piece of solid matter and put it under a microscope it loses its solidity. If you take a look at the colour spectrum, what we see compared to what actually exists is miniscule.

If you take your view of the world and compare it to the beliefs of someone else, chances are even if you have a lot in common with that person you will both have some contradictory beliefs.

We have multiple religions, belief systems, schools of thought and scientific processes all claiming to be the true one, yet for every person who thinks their version is correct there are a million others who challenge it.

Today I am going to be speaking about societal illusions. These are the illusions we generally accept as fact, when in reality they are not needed for our survival-

Food-

I’m not saying food is an illusion; we all need it for our survival. It is the feeling that we are reliant on other people for our food that is illusionary. It’s only in the last few decades that most of us have become totally [dependent] on others for our food. In reality it is only a convenience.

I See You

In the Northern Natal regions of South Africa, Zulu tribes traditionally acknowledge other human beings at the start of every encounter by gazing into each others eyes in silence for 10 seconds, before the elder of the two says “Sawu bona” meaning “I see you”, to which the younger replies, “Sikhona” - “I am here.”

This simple act of acknowledgement is the most important aspect of their daily interaction. For this indigenous group, until they are seen in this way every day, they do not exist.

Our ability to really connect with one another is a huge part of what makes us human. And it is eye contact that plays the lead role in our innate ability to understand each other beyond words; when someone says one thing, but we're able to interpret something else, or for no words to be exchanged at all, but for a meaning or emotion to somehow be conveyed. This ultimately fuels our capacity to empathise, and as a result, our ability to connect on an even deeper level with one another.

Don’t Worry – Everything is Not Under Control

Zen Rocks Still WatrZen Gardner, Guest
Waking Times

What a farce. Telling everyone “everything is under control” is perhaps the most dulling and disempowering phrase ever uttered.

My fascination with language just keeps expanding. I love looking at expressions, words, colloquialisms, so-called “sayings” and the like with fresh awakened eyes. I can’t help it. The supposed, accepted and unconscious meanings of these imposed “expressions” are what direct our minds and turn our attention.

So much of what we’ve been handed down is contorted, manipulated and eventually nestled in the collective mindset to twist our hearts away from simple truth.

How many times has this expression been used to bring seeming comfort to someone; “Don’t worry, everything’s under control.” Really? What control? Who’s controlling what? And why?

Why Playing Small Is Just Your Ego

By Lissa Rankin MD
Guest Writer for Wake Up World

When most of us think of the idea of the ego, we think of words like “egotistical” or “arrogant.” What most don’t understand is that the same ego that leads people to boast,  self-inflate, name drop, and preen around with self importance can manifest as just the opposite. When you wallow in self-doubt, act like you’re not good enough to belong, self-flagellate, or otherwise diminish yourself, that’s not humility. It’s more ego.

So what do I mean by ego?  I’m not talking about the Freudian definition that breaks your psyche into the id, ego, and superego. I’m also not talking solely about the part of you that tries to make you superior to others. I’m talking about the part of you that thinks it is separate from Oneness/The Universe/All That Is. This illusion of separateness may lead you to believe that you’re distinct and not connected, and because of this illusion, your ego will try to make everything and everyone either “better than” or “worse than” you.

117 Countries Slam American Police Brutality At UN Human Rights Council

In what could hardly be called a surprise, the UN Human Rights Council chastised the US over its epidemic of police violence, discrimination, needless killings, and general neglect, following through with recommendations made in its first review in 2010.

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) takes place every four years to scrutinize the human and civil rights practices of each of the UN’s 193 member nations. Delegates from 117 countries took the opportunity to lambaste the US’ record of civil rights violations exacted by its brutal and racist police forces.
