Overcoming Negative Emotions

negativeimage1

“Balance cannot be known unless you taste both extremes. You will dabble, struggle, even suffer until you muster up the the extraordinary courage necessary for embracing all of your humanity.” ~ Amy Larson

Two words that any spiritual seeker is inundated with, no matter what school of thought they are a part of, are “acceptance” and “love”. It doesn’t really matter which spiritual practice we are following or which teacher we are listening to, we are constantly told to accept ourselves as we are, accept others as they are, and unconditionally love everything, including all of our “negative” emotions.

And as simple as many spiritual teachers make it sound, the actual concept of acceptance and love can actually be not only more confusing than it seems, but harder than it looks. How many times on your journey have you told yourself that you can accept that you are angry, let’s say, attempted to love it (in hope of making it go away), and nothing happened?

Plants Communicate Using An Internet Of Fungus

Hidden beneath the surface and entangled in the roots of Earth’s astonishing and diverse plant life, there exists a biological superhighway linking together the members of the plant kingdom in what researchers call the “wood wide web”. This organic network operates much like our internet, allowing plants to communicate, bestow nutrition, or even harm one another.

The network is comprised of thin threads of fungus known as mycelium that grow outwards underground up to a few meters from its partnering plant, meaning that all of the plant life within a region is likely tapped into the network and connected to one another. The partnership of the roots of plants and the fungi is known as mycorrhiza and is beneficial for both parties involved; plants provide carbohydrates to the fungi and in exchange, the fungi aids in gathering water and providing nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen to its partnering plant.

This fungal network has been found to allow plants to aid one another in growth and flourishing. University of British Columbia graduate Suzanne Simard was the first to show that trees such as the Douglas fir and Paper birch were capable of transferring carbon to smaller trees that may not be receiving enough sunlight, allowing seedlings to grow in the shade of other trees. Simard believes that many of the world’s seedlings would not be able to survive if it weren’t for the lifeline this network provides.

Why Do We Ignore the Obvious?

Waking Times

I have a hard time with people not being willing to recognize what’s obviously in front of their faces. It’s a voluntary mind game people play with themselves to justify whatever it is they think they want. This is massively exacerbated by an array of social engineering tactics, many of which are to create the very mind sets and desires people so adamantly defend.

But that’s no excuse for a lack of simple conscious recognition and frankly makes absolutely no sense.

We can’t blame these manipulators for everything. Ultimately we all have free choice. Plainly seeing what’s right in front of our noses, no matter how well sold or disguised, is our human responsibility. That people would relinquish this innate right and capability totally escapes me.

Benevolent Hand, Opposing Hand

By Open

How are we helped and opposed in our spiritual unfolding?

As we unfold spiritually and step onto the path of self realisation, the veils of limited reality are peeled away and our consciousness expands into multiple realms of existence. Whilst the centre of our consciousness and therefore frame of reference remains in this realm, we begin to experience increased psychic sensitivity; higher synchronistic activity and greater intuitive capability. We seem to automatically access a place of higher knowing…

Crossing the threshold of multidimensional experience

When we cross this threshold of multidimensional experience, the natural order of higher consciousness flowing through all experiences reveals itself in the synchronistic patterning of events. We notice we are we being aided and opposed in our continued evolution. What forms does this influence take? How can we understand it better and benefit from it?

Raising Healthy, Happy Kids

By Lissa Rankin MD
Guest Writer for Wake Up World

When I wrote the title of this post, I think I might have been overly ambitious. How DO you raise healthy, happy kids? It’s a question I ponder almost every day and one my readers ask me about frequently.

Because I’m a mom, a doctor, and an entrepreneur, I’m often asked about my parenting choices, and as you may have noticed in my articles, I pretty much steer clear of anything you might call “mommy blogging”, not because I don’t have plenty to say about the topic but because:

1. Anything even beginning to resemble parenting advice can push a parent into a shame spiral quicker than you can blink...

Hearts were made to be filled with Love.

Saul Audio Blog for Monday June 22nd.

All your blocks are coming up for release, that is why you keep experiencing them.  It is frustrating for you, it tends to get you thinking that you are, as some of you might put it, “a waste of space,” not good enough, as you observe all those seemingly well-balanced individuals living normal productive and satisfying lives.  Nothing could be further from the truth – NO ONE is a waste of space, although some may appear to be wasting time, wasting their lives – nothing anyone does is wasted, there is always a lesson to be learned, and it is always learned, if not in that moment, then eventually.

So, give yourself a break, as many as you feel like, because that is generally what you need.  When you resist taking a break, when you fight the urge, you avoid the opportunity to experience something that has been buried or denied that needs to surface, be seen and be experienced, then it can be happily and easily released.  That’s what blocks are, a call to allow something deep seated to emerge and be healed and released.  But most of you have been well-trained to bury, deny, or fight them.  Allowing them to take time to surface is not procrastinating, it is essential inner work, but when you judge yourselves you slow down or stop the process, and then it may seem that you are procrastinating.

Day 33: In Courage, Ben 7

IN COURAGE   As you go through your day today, you will be presented with a countless number of choices. When you wake up, will you have something to drink or eat? What clothes will you wear today? Will you make the bed or not? Do you work or relax today? Do you walk or drive where you need to go? What shall you prepare for each of your meals? Do you smile at everyone you meet or not?

These are polarity issues. For many of these, you are on “auto-pilot,” there is little to no conscious thought about it. These are habits; you just do them as part of your daily ritual. My challenge to you is to be more observant and look at each of these choices to determine if they are in your best interest or not. What is your highest goal for yourself?

If you intend good health for yourself, be cognizant of each choice you make in your food intake, habits and what substances you put on your largest organ, the skin. If you intend abundance, what limiting thoughts and behaviors are stopping you from reaching your desire? For each of the intentions you have set for yourself, monitor your thoughts and behaviors diligently in order to catch the belief codes and unconscious habits that keep you off your Path to Passion. Each one of the changes you need to make requires a specific amount of courage.

NYC Aspires To Have Solar Roof/Gardens As Part Of Their Schools

feature_image_template

Vicki Sando is a teacher who has created a solar-panel/garden array on top of their public school building. This allows for the students to be up close and personal with learning about science. Sando had discovered PS 41’s garden roof in 2003, then with 2 million dollars and 10 years in the future, the solar array was set-up on the schools building.

Sando had told the Capital, “We made connections between plant study. Plants are little solar cells. I had my fifth graders take apart a solar calculator and show them how it worked. We don’t have a stand-alone curriculum on solar, but we’ll do projects where we’ll fold it into it.”

The Mayor of New York City, Bill De Blasio, reports that 23 million dollars will bring solar panels to 24 public schools approximately in the summer of 2016. As Sando and the students await the near future, they continue to learn and grow on their very own roof top. Way to go kids!

The Intriguing Thought-Provoking Insights Of The Legend: Alan Watts

I am coming out of the closet. I’m a Wattsist. A what-ist? A Wattsist. After Alan Watts, the British-American philosopher, spiritual entertainer, and author. Alan Watts was a treasure to his generation and to ours, as his words continue to provide solace, humour, and understanding. His podcasts are increasingly well-known and his books seem to be experiencing a resurgence in popularity. His son, Mark Watts, has released a new documentary about his dad, so we can expect Alan’s popularity to keep rising even though it has been many decades since his death in 1973.

I’ve been sufficiently inspired by Watts’ work that I am writing a new biography of this great man. It’s been an interesting journey because I’m learning, as one must when traveling from the realm of pure concepts to details of a person’s life, that Watts was no angel. His wisdom is beautiful and profound, but he wasn’t a very good father and he wasn’t a very good husband, at least not to his first two wives (he had three and died while living with his third wife). We shouldn’t, however, expect perfection from our spiritual leaders, particularly when the leader in question (Watts) was fond of talking about his own and all spiritual leaders’ “irreducible rascality.”
