France makes it illegal for supermarkets to destroy edible food in effort to cut waste

Chains are being made to donate products to charity or send it for recycling

France is making it illegal for large supermarkets to throw away edible food as part of a series of measures to cut down on waste.

The country’s National Assembly unanimously voted in new laws on Thursday night that will force chains to donate discarded food to charity or allow it to be turned into animal feed, compost or energy.

Guillaume Garot, a Socialist politician who sponsored the bill, said: “It’s scandalous to see bleach being poured into supermarket dustbins along with edible foods.”  France is trying to cut down on food waste

British supermarkets have also been known to destroy out-of-date food in industrial bins with chemicals, a practice that is now illegal across the Channel.

Why Your Life Is A Cosmic Joke

“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” ~ Albert Einstein

Are you suffering from the debilitating illness known as seriousness? It is an epidemic in the world of today. By a certain age, if one is to be respected and taken ‘seriously’ by their peers, they must adopt a certain seriousness themselves. Things matter. Social standing, money in the bank, the ‘importance’ of your job or role in life, the public image of your family members — all of these are exceptionally important to a person’s sense of belonging and self-worth. Yet the price so often paid is one of the greatest: a loss of innocence, a loss of the ability to truly ‘play’. Ironically, however, the ability to play is of course the cornerstone strategy of some of the most successful people and companies in the world...

We’re All in This Together

Credit: Keepcalm-o-matic.co.uk

By Wes Annac, Culture of Awareness

I stand with all the free-thinkers out there who’ve liberated their minds from cultural illusion and tapped into true reality. I stand with everyone who’s awakened to the fact that the world is massively imbalanced, and I invite you to contribute to the creation of a new way of life.

I stand by the spiritual teachers who genuinely want to help their pupils come closer to enlightenment, as opposed to using rigid dogma to tell them what they should and shouldn’t do.

I stand by everyone who’s awakened to the spiritual nature of our existence and the things the corrupt elite are doing to keep us from realizing our own eternal, spiritual nature, and I welcome you into my circle, which I’ve been welcomed into by other conscious seekers.

I stand by everyone who’s opened their mind and wants to create a new world, however we each individually define that, and I’m excited for more people to awaken and step up to the plate to help humanity evolve.

I welcome anyone who’s excited to make real, lasting changes to the corrupt world we’ve been forced to deal with for so long, and I encourage every awakened individual to invite others to participate in our collective evolution.

Everywhere we look, people are waking up and doing something with their awareness.

How to Melt Old Karmic Patterns with Pure Love

If the West favours the left-handed, logic and analytical side of the brain and the East favours the creative, spiritual and feeling-centered side of the brain, then it’s no surprise that in the West, we approach our problems all too often with cool logic and analysis.

That’s not to say that these approaches are valid and appropriate in many problem-solving situations in life, but when it comes to patterns of behaviour and trapped emotions, the best option available is actually often completely the opposite. Instead of burying ourselves in countless counseling sessions and trying to claw our way out of the labyrinth fruitless style, sometimes we just need to rise above it like a hawk and drop all of our problems at once.

If there could be one ‘higher purpose’ for meditation – higher than relaxing, enhancing our health or improving concentration – it’s this. Untangling ourselves from the over-use of our minds and just letting all those years of effort simply melt away, we are able to see that there really wasn’t any problem there in the first place. Lifting persistent burdens on our emotional well-being, not to mention our time and energy leave us free to focus on what we really want to make our lives all about.

Think Homelessness Can’t be Eradicated? These Communities Did It

Homelessness

Alex Pietrowski, Staff Writer
Waking Times

The costs of homelessness is rarely discussed. We mostly hear statistics about the number of children living on the streets, the vast number of hungry individuals fed in soup kitchens, and the dangers that homeless families face during severe weather. As communities, we pull together by donating to food banks and participating in homeless outreach programs, even though government regulations are putting limits on where and how we can help the homeless. (see: 90 Year Old Man Arrested for Feeding the Homeless).

We are naturally inclined to want to help people in need, but most of us don’t understand the economics of caring for the homeless.

Daily Message ~ Friday May 22, 2015

We find a great many human beings delaying their healing waiting for some kind of closure to come from another. This is such a gamble, Dear Ones! You see, the need for closure indicates that a hurt has occurred from your dealings with the other. If they were not able to keep from hurting you in the first place it is highly unlikely they will have the skill, love, or compassion necessary to create the healing you are looking for. They likely do not have the insight or ability to gift you with the closure you seek.

You are in charge of your healing. Waiting for another to give you what you need to heal is giving your power away. You do not need any external gift from another in order to give yourself permission to heal! Your own self love, your own nurturing of self, your own healthy boundaries, your own desire for wellness and wholeness, is all that is ever required to create the perfect conditions for your healing.

5 Unexpected Ways to Meditate Everyday

5 Unexpected Ways to Meditate Everyday

Entering a state of mind called meditation doesn’t happen by just sitting down closing your eyes and being still. There are 3 crucial steps that are needed to guide the mind inward in seeking a meditative state. These 3 essential steps are 1. breath control 2. withdrawing senses 3. concentration.

There are various ways to achieve this state of mind,  that do not include what we know to be commonly called meditation.

Here are 5 Unexpected Ways to Meditate Everyday

1. Walking-  allows you to be more present in your body and in the present moment. The simple experience of alternating steps naturally helps to create a meditative state. The body loves movement, and by paying attention to the body as you walk, it will help you enjoy the simplicity of just being alive.

11 Vegetables Anyone Can Grow At Home

By Dr. Joseph Mercola

Guest Writer for Wake Up World

One in three U.S. households are now growing food, according to a special report from the National Gardening Association (NGA).[1] This equates to about 42 million households with a food garden in 2013, a 17 percent increase from 2008.

Keeping a garden can improve your health by providing you with fresher, uncontaminated food, and cutting your grocery bill. NGA estimates that while the average US family spends $70 per year to plant a vegetable garden, they grow about $600 worth of produce – that’s a $530 return on your investment.[2]

The promise of garden-fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, and carrots is what initially draws many new gardeners in… but what keeps so many involved is the intrinsically rewarding feeling of growing your own food.
