What’s Your Worth?

image(1)

“In every aspect of our lives, we are always asking ourselves, How am I of value? What is my worth? Yet I believe that worthiness is our birthright.” -Oprah Winfrey

How much are you worth? If you could put a value on yourself, what would that value be?

I am guilty of selling myself short, of looking at others and seeing their strengths and accomplishments yet seeing my own as less than.

Take this last year for instance. I have accomplished a lot on a personal level yet I could not acknowledge this “lot” until I pretty much forced myself to.

I am a writer.

A year ago I would never have claimed such a claim even though I have been writing since a very young age.

I would never have considered myself a writer because no one else considered me one.

The question is why didn’t anyone consider me one?

The answer is simple. I didn’t stake my claim. I can only be what I myself acknowledge...

The Truth About Long Hair, Spiritual Power, And Why Natives Kept Long Hair

lnghrIn Native cultures, men and woman are recognized by the length and glory of their hair. The cutting of hair by oppressors has long represented the submission and defeat of a People, through humiliation. The way a People comb (the Alignment of thought), braid (the Oneness of thought), tie (the Securing of thought) and color (the Conviction in thought), their Hair is of great significance.  Each hair style represents a different frame of mind.

Hair is largely believed by them to be an extension of your thoughts.  Hair styles are especially important for they portray and announce participation in various events. Your hair style indicates your state of merriment or mourning at a given time, whether you’re marriageable or married, your age, and tribal status.  It is a representation of your feelings and your life situation.

Different styles signify the Tribe one belongs to and are worn to indicate times of peace or war...

Handling a Mercury Retrograde

by Kathy Biehl

If you’ve heard the term “Mercury retrograde,” odds are you don’t have good feelings about it. Take heart! Even if some people react to it as if the sky is falling, Mercury retrograde is not the end of the world. It’s a regular phenomenon that happens three or four times every year.

What does Mercury Retrograde mean?

First, the technicalities: Mercury is retrograde when it’s traveling backwards. That’s an optical illusion, of course, and comes from a change in that planet’s orbital speed in comparison to the Earth’s. (Think of it as the planetary equivalent of speeding up, passing a car and seeing it fall far behind after you in the rear view mirror.)

How this works: When Mercury is moving in reverse, the areas of life it governs do not play by the usual rules. Pay extra attention to anything related to communication and travel-including phones, computers and electronic devices, the mail (remember that?), cars, public transportation, and commutes.

The Formless Speaks

Bernardo Kastrup, Reality Sandwich
Waking Times

The following is excerpted from Meaning in Absurdity: what bizarre phenomena can tell us about the nature of reality, published by Iff Books.

We are incessantly, relentlessly, tirelessly telling ourselves stories; constantly attempting to categorize and match everything we experience against some (coherent) storyline playing out in our minds. Well, at least I am like that, and I seem to observe others doing the same. That is why certain forms of meditation prove so challenging: there, the idea is to stop the story-telling. It turns out many of us require instruction, the learning of techniques developed over centuries or millennia, and years of training to have a chance to momentarily pause the story-telling; so inborn it seems to be. Some people even feel they need to isolate themselves completely, in mountains or monasteries, for years at a time, to stop telling themselves what is or might be going on.

Enlightenment: Wanting it vs. Working for It

Credit: northernwall.blogspot.com

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

Sometimes, we reach a point where we want to feel more connected with the Christ within; more connected with our essence, and when this happens, we might have to ask ourselves a few essential questions.

One of them is if we’re making choices throughout our day that are in alignment with our wish to be more connected. Are we helping ourselves live a lifestyle that’s truly inspired by spirit, or does the idea of staying connected only sound good at the surface?

Oftentimes, we’ll find when we take a serious, discerning look at ourselves that even though we think we want to be more connected, we still aren’t making choices that help us stay aligned. We’ll find that continuing to falter in some areas of life is what causes us to feel distant from love or spirit.

This crazy alien horizon is actually a real sunrise on Earth

It may look like some kind of alien landscape, but this photo shows a super-rare combination of solar phenomena happening right here on Earth.

Photographed in Red River, New Mexico, on January 9, this is one of the most beautiful sunrises I've ever seen.

While it looks photoshopped (or alien), in reality, the combination of arcs and halos is caused by an extremely rare combination of solar phenomena happening all at once.

The image was captured by Joshua Thomas who emailed the US National Weather Service (NWS) in Texas to find out what was going on.

17-Year-Old Girl Forcefully Taken From Her Parents By Govt Agents For Refusing Chemotherapy

Source: www.thefreethoughtproject.com | Original Post Date: January 5, 2015 –

Hartford, Connecticut – 17-year-old Cassandra Fortin has been taken from her family against her will because she refused chemotherapy.

Cassandra was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, but like many people with cancer, Cassandra wants to look into natural options for treatment, instead of chemotherapy. While chemotherapy is heavily pushed by pharmaceutical companies and backed up by government funded science, there are other options for people and everyone should be free to chose their own path in healing.

Doctors at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center forced Cassandra to undergo chemotherapy against her will, so she quickly ran away from home to get away from the situation.

8 000 scientific papers link refined white sugar to chronic disease

One of the worst things you can do to your body is feed it sugar - not necessarily natural sugar like the kind found in fruit, but refined sugar. A team of scientists from the University of California in San Francisco (UCSF) recently pored through more than 8 000 scientific papers on how sugar affects the body and came to the conclusion that it not only makes people fat but also makes them sick.

The project, which has been dubbed SugarScience, exposes sugar as a primary culprit in the formation of metabolic disease, which can lead to conditions like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Lead author Laura Schmidt, a UCSF School of Medicine professor, says her team's findings are comprehensible -- sugar is highly toxic to the body and vital organs, including the liver.

According to their investigation, nearly three-quarters of all packaged and processed foods contain added sugar. This sugar is typically listed under 61 different names, including things like high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), dextrose, evaporated cane juice and sucrose...
