Five Yoga Postures to Open the Heart Chakra

heart chakra“The heart is the place where we live our passions. It is frail and easily broken, but wonderfully resilient. There is no point in trying to deceive the heart. It depends upon our honesty for its survival.” ~ Leo Buscaglia

The fourth chakra or Heart Chakra is the seat of unconditional love, compassion, joy and emotional wisdom. In Sanskrit it is known as “Anahata Chakra”, meaning, ‘Unbeaten,’ ‘Unhurt’ or ‘Unstruck’.

It rests in the center of the chakra system at the core of our spirit, integrating the world of matter (the lower three chakras) with the world of spirit (the upper three chakras). Our spiritual growth, the nature of our relationships with others, the feeling of peace, contentment and harmony, all these aspects of everyday living are integrated within Anahata chakra.

The Zen of Alchemy: Transforming Anxiety into Art

alchemy

“This is why alchemy exists. So that everyone will search for his treasure, find it, and then want to be better than he was in his former life. Lead will play its role until the world has no further need for lead; and then lead will have to turn itself into gold. That’s what alchemists do. They show that, when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Transformation is tough. Even healthy transformation is difficult work. In fact, healthy transformation can be even more painful than unhealthy transformation. It is scary stretching comfort zones and breaking mental paradigms. It’s uncomfortable thinking outside of traditional and parochial boxes, especially when those boxes are all we’ve ever thought inside of. Creating art is one of the ways we have to smooth the transition of transformation, and art can even make the process an exciting adventure.

Is Your Fear of Suffering Worse Than the Actual Suffering?

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.” – Paulo Coelho

We spend so much of our time trying to avoid pain at all costs. We have this little voice in our head that says “I shouldn’t have to feel pain,” or “Pain is wrong, suffering is not where I want to be, so I will distract myself in any way possible from actually having to feel any sort of suffering.”

We have judged pain and suffering as an indication that there is something wrong with us. And because we view pain as something that needs to be avoided and fought against, when it shows up in our lives we resist it by trying to deny it, or we avoid it by distracting ourselves with things like addictions, or buying more stuff, or focusing on the lives of others in order to not have to focus on our own.

Four Ways to Connect With your Guardian Angels

Although we may all have had one or two spiritual ‘awakenings’ in our lives; awakenings that opened us up to the Divine in violent and soul-shaking, or quietly beautiful ways, keeping up this connection on a daily basis can be a challenge.

When unique feelings and deep knowings subside and are replaced by the empty shell of ritual and repetition; insisting to our friends and families that this is the way it happens, or simply sticking quite stubbornly to reliving that experience over and over in our heads… our connection to the Divine has seemingly dried up.

Though the intensity of our connection will naturally peak and trough throughout our lives, there are things that we can do to stay closer to the higher love, either by locating it in every moment we remember to – living in a moment to moment meditation – or by connecting specifically to those energies that are always there for you.

Courage: Five Ways to Reap Rewards from the Universe

Dandelion-Flower-Wallpaper

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” – Nelson Mandela

HONESTY

The first step on the path to reaping heavenly rewards from the universe is a rule so plated in gold and studded with diamonds that it seems to pass most of us by, or at least lay dormant until we’ve reached forty or retired and moved to the Mediterranean. The most important thing to do before you die, in fact something that we should do every single day of our lives.

Be true to ourselves.

Why We get Stuck in Self-Sabotage & How to Overcome it

raise-your-vibration

“Hard work is not the path to well-being. Feeling good is the path to well-being. You don’t create through action, you create through vibration. And then, your vibration calls action from you.” – Abraham-Hicks

So many of us know exactly what we need to do in our lives in order to be successful and move forward. We’ve all read self-help books, listened to spiritual teachings, meditated, and done energy work. The advice is generally the same everywhere we look. “Let go of fear, think positive, expect good results, give to others, take the necessary action…” And while we can hear this advice over and over again, some of us still hit that point where we feel stuck.

6 Simple Yet Powerful Ways to Inspire Yourself

inspire

“When you are living the best version of yourself, you inspire others to live the best version of themselves.” –Steve Maraboli

The day-to-day activities that we partake in can become dreadfully mundane sometimes. We go to the same place or places day in and day out, we interact with the same people at work and at home. Our routine becomes painful.

In order to interject life back into our lives we must find ways to inspire ourselves. And since we may not always have the means to go on an amazing vacation, or the power to manifest our soulmate this very instant, or the time to soul search for days on end without having to get up and go to work, we must find ways that we are able to find excitement and inspiration in our lives that are within our abilities.

At the end of the day we can only work with the means and the tools that are available to us in any given moment. When we use what we have in order to manifest our best self, we not only respect ourselves and our decisions, but we help others do the same. Here are six completely simple yet powerful ways to interject life back into your life and get inspired:

Harmonising Your Sacral Chakra

sacral-chakra

“I am a sensory being full of creative potential. I embrace life with passion & enjoy plunging in joy and happiness. My senses are alive, aware and connected.” ~ an affirmation reads

Sacral chakra or Swadhisthana chakra is the sensuality centre of the body, a hub of creativity, emotions, passion, pleasure and giving & receiving acts. It is responsible for the existence of our individual consciousness, as it acts like a magnet to attract the reality, that mirrors the thoughts and feelings stored in this chakra. All your unconscious desires, especially sexual desire, is stored here.

It is associated with the element of water, the sense of taste, and the act of procreation. Sacral chakra is the seat of the self where, Swa means ‘I’ and dhisthana means ‘seat’. Symbolised by an orange lotus flower, the six petals are significant for our emotional connect, affection, delusion, destructiveness and feelings of contempt. An imbalance in the chakra can lead to sexual difficulties, confusion, purposelessness, jealousy, the desire to possess, overindulgence in food or sex and problems in the genital area, bladder, spleen etc.

The Relation between the Sun and Human Consciousness

Summer-Forest-Sunshine-1440x900

“I could wish that I had such power of language as should avail me to assure those who would set the worship of man above that of the sun. Those who wish to worship man (an historical Christ) make a huge error!” ~ Leonardo Da Vinci

The sun is such a regular and constant sight in our daily life that we seldom acknowledge its existence. The sun is one of the primary reasons that life exists on earth. How many of us have really thought of the possibility that the sun might be a conscious being? When you think of the relationship we all share with the sun, how can it be just a ball of gas when it is responsible for life on Earth?

The sound of the chirping birds at the break of dawn, or certain types of flowers that wait for the first ray of sunlight to blossom and revel in its beauty; this serves as a reminder of how nature is closely dependent on the sun. Even the beauty of sunrise and sunset touches us all.
