Conscious Parenting: Accepting Our Children As They Are

“In seeking to restore an experience of oneness between your children and yourself, the path leads by way of the discovery of communion with your own forgotten self. This is the case because establishing a meaningful partnership with your children will inevitably cause you to attend to the development of your own authentic being. As your growing awareness disintegrates the parent-child hierarchy, it will spontaneously equalize the playing field in your family. Moving away from egoic behavior- surrendering your opinions of how situations ‘ought’ to be, and how people ‘should’ act- will allow you to step off your pedestal of dominance.” ~ Shefali Tsabary, Phd, author “The Conscious Parent”

4 Yoga Poses to Open the Crown Chakra

crown chakra “Wisdom begins at the end.” ~ Daniel Webster

As Kundalini energy rises up from the lower chakras, we enter into the realm of pure consciousness. The seventh and final chakra: Sahasrara, the Crown Chakra is the center for deeper connection with ourselves and with a force of life that is greater than ourselves. Resonating a pure light, the energy of Crown Chakra is where Ida and Pingala Nadis unite and rise through the Sushumnā Nādī.

The Sahasrara chakra is symbolized by a lotus with a thousand different colored petals, arranged in twenty layers of 50 petals. It encompasses the crown of the head, where all chakras are integrated, while it passes into infinity from the top of the head.

Five Ways to Practice Ruthless Mindfulness

024 Reader beware! My softness has teeth. My vulnerability does not come without a tempest’s thunder. Real probability of spiritual trepidation and soul-wrenching transformation, from which there will be no turning back. Proceed with caution…

Despite what you might think, fierceness, fearlessness and ruthlessness are all possible without resorting to violence. The world doesn’t need more trigger-happy militarized crackpots with nationalism and patriotism scrambling their brains into exploitable soup.

It needs compassionate, but fierce, Eco-conscious spirit warriors with the courage to challenge the powers-that-be, while also bringing tonality to an otherwise atonal world using progressively sustainable solutions that reveal how a healthier world is possible.

The Ugly Duckling as a Metaphor for Enlightenment

“The ugly duckling is a misunderstood universal myth. It’s not about turning into a blonde Barbie doll or becoming what you dream of being; it’s about self-revelation, becoming who you are.” ~ Baz Luhrmann

Much like Jack London’s story of White Fang, The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Anderson is a modern fairytale that explores the transformation of a swan mistaken for a duckling from birth to adulthood. It explores themes on misapprehensions over who we really are and what our true nature really is.

Many interpretations may focus on the identification with a specific family or crowd and the discovery of our true people when we come of age, or even go a step further and draw parallels with the salmon swimming against the current its whole life in order to return home. But, like White Fang, The Ugly Duckling doesn’t appear to be simply about discovering our true selves.

It represents the whole misunderstanding of our full potentials and divine nature. We believe we are mortal when in fact we are one with the Divine; expressions of pure love who have become lost on the journey and mistaken ourselves as inferior imposters, and those who don’t deserve any form of love… adoptive or otherwise.

Five Important Lessons April Fool’s Day Can Teach Us

“April 1. This is the day upon which we are reminded of what we are on the other three hundred and sixty-four.” –Mark Twain

Ah, April Fool’s Day; such a breath of mischievous fresh air. Shenanigans, tomfoolery, clowning, general monkey business, it’s the day we are reminded of the paradoxical truth of the human condition: we are fallible, prone to mistakes, imperfect, barely-evolved animals with heads too full of so-called answers, and hearts full of mostly suppressed questions.

We get lost in our words. We get lost in our minds. We get lost: full stop. And one of the most powerful ways we have to get unlost, to get found again, is through practical jokes, high humor, satire and a loving mockery of the human condition...

Four Yoga Postures to Open Your Third Eye Chakra

“In the land of the blind the third eyed man is king.” ~ Dean Cavanagh

The sixth chakra or third eye chakra is the seat of consciousness and as well as our “sixth” sense, often referred to as the psychic chakra. Controlling the mental activities of the lower brain (cerebellum) and the nervous system, sixth chakra is also known as Ajna Chakra, meaning ‘to perceive’ in Sanskrit.

So, while your eyes see the material world, Ajna chakra helps you look into deeper realms: intuition, clairvoyance, imagination, creativity and visualization.

Five Yoga Postures to Balance the Throat Chakra

The source of expression and manifestation, the fifth chakra: Vishuddha (translates to ‘especially pure’), the throat chakra, is the purification center which gives voice to our spirit. This is where energy transforms into our manifestations in the physical world. Situated at centre of the throat, the fifth chakra is associated with creativity, truthfulness, sound vibrations, honesty, loyalty and gentleness.

Has Spirituality Become Part of Your Ego?

“Once you awaken, you will have no interest in judging those who sleep.” ~ James Blanchard

For the seeker who is on the spiritual journey or the truth-seeker that is determined to uncover what is “real” and “unreal”, the spirituality or awakening process becomes nothing short of an obsession. Once the secrets of the universe begin to show themselves to you, it’s like you can think of nothing else.

Maybe you had a mystical experience that cannot be explained, or maybe in your seeking to uncover the “secrets” of our government or societies you chanced upon a seemingly endless rabbit hole of information that shows cover-up after cover-up anywhere from why wars were fought to hidden information about extra-terrestrials.

The Zen of Heartstorming: Ego Individuation and the Self-actualization of the Soul

“Wisdom ceases to be wisdom when it becomes too proud to weep, too grave to laugh, and too selfish to seek other than itself.” ~ Khalil Gibran

See yourself within everything, and everything within yourself. The illusion is our separation. We are one. But we must not forget that we are also aspects of The One. We are individual waves crashing out of a mighty cosmic ocean. We’re all connected, but we’re also all unique.

Heartstorming is first and foremost a process of elimination, a washing away, a deep cleansing. What we’re eliminating is superfluity, excess baggage...

Matching Our Vibration with Our Desired Reality

“Everything you can imagine is real”~ Pablo Picasso

We’ve all had the experience of coincidence, or as it’s more commonly known in spirituality and law of attraction circles, “synchronicity”. Maybe we thought about someone and then we randomly see them somewhere. Or we think about a song and a minute later it’s coming on the radio.

The deeper we get in touch with our own consciousness we find that these synchronicities are not only happening more often, but also on a larger scale. Perhaps we have dreams at night that become manifest in our waking reality, or perhaps we start to notice less of “lag” time between the things we long to achieve in our imagination and the arrival of that exact thing in our physical reality.
