The Power Of Silence

The Power Of Silence

By Steve Taylor Ph.D

Guest Writer for Wake Up World

Modern humans have lost touch with their inner ‘true self’. Silence and stillness are a means to recovering happiness and contentment. In the modern world silence has practically ceased to exist.

The human race has stamped its authority over the planet Earth not just by covering its surface with concrete and destroying its plant and animal life, but also by burying the natural sounds of the Earth beneath a cacophony of man-made noise. We live our lives against the background of this cacophony, with the jagged mechanical sounds of urban-industrial society continually assaulting our ears: the roar of trucks, aeroplanes and trains, the clanging and thudding of machinery, the noise of building and renovating, the chatter of radios and TVs in other people’s cars and houses, and pop music blaring from every conceivable place.

Daily Message ~ Saturday March 14, 2015

Dear Ones, just a reminder – words hold energy and intention. One word affirmations are one of the best and fastest ways to adjust your own energy. If you are tired, perhaps you could use the word “energy”. If you are anxious, “calm”. Keep trying on words until you feel like you’ve found the perfect antidote to the energy you are trying to shift out of, and repeat the word with your inner voice as needed. Working your own energy does not need to be complicated at all. With a little bit of awareness and a willingness to experiment, you will very quickly find simple fixes that work remarkably well for you. ~Archangel Gabriel

How to Use Meditation and Mindfulness to Improve Your Life

With everyday stresses putting pressure on all of our lives, it sometimes becomes hard to feel motivated and with the weight of the world on your shoulders, you may become unhappy with your life.

Meditation and Mindfulness are two approaches that are generally associated with relaxation and appreciating the world around you, however they can also be used as a part of everyday life to improve our mindset and the way we live.

Mindfulness is the act of becoming aware of everything around you, how you’re feeling and the stream of consciousness that flows through your mind. Noticing and appreciating the thoughts that enter and leave our minds is a good way to remind ourselves that every thought does indeed come and go, much like everything else in life, namely our problems.

In the Non-Land of Infinity

Sadness is one thing, tears are another. Tears are a beautiful release. Sadness is a holding on. It is holding on to what was or what you thought was and what you thought was supposed to stay but did not, could not.  Tears are designed to let sadness flow out of your heart.

There is hanging on, and there is letting go. In each case, we are talking about illusion. Every dream that ever came true, it is still illusion, you understand.

In the world, everything goes on, yet it is all a golden brick path. Nothing ever was, and everything was not. In a manner of speaking, the world, which is made of matter, has no substance. The world is like a photo.

The extant world does not hold the reliability you desire. There is a tendency for you to see the world as a liability, a gauntlet that you are required to run through. Too often, this life that you see as a gauntlet is too much for you, and you don’t know where to turn. In a wilderness of life, you feel lost and, perhaps, entrapped.

Let go of the illusion of danger. No matter how real-seeming, even danger is illusion. You cannot capture life as if you could squeeze it in your hand. Come to admit that life is elusive. The more you try to catch life and clasp it, the more it seems to run away. You can see that life runs away from you. You almost have it in the palm of your hand, yet you don’t clasp it. On the other hand, you may run away from life, and it picks you up and drops you here and there.

Hatred: The Ultimate Social Control Mechanism

Many of the layers and subtleties in Orwell’s 1984, though fixed for the sake of fiction, so perfectly reflect the non-fictional world – the impulses of totalitarian institutions and the spirit of individuals – that it has become a near timeless representation. Arguably the most significant political fiction ever written, 1984 begins with the daily Two Minutes of Hate during the time period “in preparation for Hate Week.”

Orwell knew… Hatred is a control mechanism.

The more repressed a society the more hateful all within must be. In order for oligarchical collectivism to take hold – in order for the few to benefit over the many without recognition or revolution – hatred must be infused. Hatred leads to the “us and them” mentality which drives clever reasoning to convince people to kill and be killed in the name of an institutional godhead. The more repressive and evil an institution, the more hatred they will drive and instill.

Remember the words of Jesus: "Unless you are like a small child you will not enter into my kingdom of God." What does he mean? Unless you attain to the same freedom that you were born with, you will not enter into my kingdom of God. Drop all that the society has given to you: character, morality, the idea of good and bad, the division of body and soul, the split between the earth and heaven.

Drop all that the society has imposed on you. Become innocent again, a clean slate, and suddenly you are wise.

Wisdom is something that happens like a sudden lightning. That is the meaning of enlightenment, satori, samadhi.

The Zen of Alchemy: Transforming Anxiety into Art

alchemy

“This is why alchemy exists. So that everyone will search for his treasure, find it, and then want to be better than he was in his former life. Lead will play its role until the world has no further need for lead; and then lead will have to turn itself into gold. That’s what alchemists do. They show that, when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Transformation is tough. Even healthy transformation is difficult work. In fact, healthy transformation can be even more painful than unhealthy transformation. It is scary stretching comfort zones and breaking mental paradigms. It’s uncomfortable thinking outside of traditional and parochial boxes, especially when those boxes are all we’ve ever thought inside of. Creating art is one of the ways we have to smooth the transition of transformation, and art can even make the process an exciting adventure.

The Power of Letting Go: A Little Guide to Non-Attachment

lotus-pond-woman-meditating

Attachment is the origin, the root of suffering; hence it is the cause of suffering. – The Dalai Lama

You’ve probably seen or read something like it before on the Internet.

A beautiful image with a short quote that says something to the significance of “let it go” (if you don’t believe me, type “let go” into Google and look under the images tab).

And I’m not talking about the Frozen theme song, I’m talking about the idea of letting go of things in your life, whatever that may be.

But rarely is it actually explained how to actually “let it go”. More often than not it’s become no more than a slogan for happy living, with vague guidance at best.

What I do find interesting though is that most of us seem to realize intuitively how important it is to live without clinging to things, even if we’re not exactly sure how that’s supposed to happen.

Scientists Ask If A New Race Of Super Earthlings Are Being Born

Source: www.bodymindsoulspirit.com | Original Post Date: October 25, 2014 –

Scientists have made an unexpected and unsettling discovery – a large number of new and previously unseen mutations have been detected among humans.

There are those who suggest that there will soon be fantastic X-men among humans. These super earthlings do not come out of secret laboratories, as in famous blockbuster movies, but are born naturally. Other scientists are less optimistic and consider the unforeseen development can to lead to unknown changes in the human body.

This unexpected and terrifying discovery is a result of a study conducted by scientists from Cornell University (USA) and University of California.

Sorry Monsanto: Organic Food Demand Is Absolutely Exploding, Sales To Reach $35 billion This Year

Source: www.naturalsociety.com | Original Post Date: February 17, 2015 –

Perhaps you remember a time not too far in our collective grocery-shopping past when regular grocery stores chains and places like Walmart had no idea what organic food was. Organic milk? Bread? Produce? They didn’t carry it. You had to find an obscure health food store or a farmer’s market if you didn’t live near a Whole Foods to find non-GMO, healthful food that wasn’t full of pesticides. But thankfully, consumers are demanding different products now. Demand for organic food has busted through its glass ceiling.

Synchronicities and You

By John Holland

Is your soul trying to get your attention?

Synchronicities and so-called coincidences are clear signs that the Divine Source is knocking on your door. Sometimes it could be a soft tap or for those times when you’re not paying attention, it could be a loud bang!

When source works through synchronicities, it can manifest itself in some pretty unique ways. I have my own definition and refer to them as my divine nudges. For example, it’s when I hear the same phrase or saying from more than one person in a day? It’s when the same numbers keep showing up in your life? Has someone mentioned the same person you were just thinking of? Have you met someone out of the blue who seemed to answer a question that you were just pondering?

Confessions of a Control Freak – and Why We Should Let Go!

Confessions of a Control Freak – and Why We Should Let Go!

By Nanice Ellis

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

I never would have admitted this years ago, but I was a control freak. Like all control freaks, I thought I knew best and I constantly attempted to persuade others to my way of thinking and feeling. It was a full time job, with long sleepless nights and no benefits to myself or others.

It is not fun to be controlling, because the more we try to control, the more life gives us things to control – which, of course, in the end we cannot control.

One of the biggest problems with control is that when we try to control, we close our hearts and we separate ourselves from others, and of course, whatever it is that we try to control, imprisons us.

Stories In Your Head – When They Help and When They Don’t

Stories In Your Head - When They Help and When They Don’t

By Jack Adam Weber L.Ac., Dipl. C.H.

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

The stories we have about one another can be dangerous. Many of these stories are generated by emotional triggers, which generate our beliefs, causing us to bias our view and twist information to support our bias. Or, we just conveniently miss what is communicated, or assume we know what is meant by something someone else says or does, when in fact, something completely different has been communicated in plain English (or whatever language we understand best on a given day). What’s worse is that we then act on our beliefs and the emotions generated by them, often doing harm.

Is Your Fear of Suffering Worse Than the Actual Suffering?

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.” – Paulo Coelho

painimage1

We spend so much of our time trying to avoid pain at all costs. We have this little voice in our head that says “I shouldn’t have to feel pain,” or “Pain is wrong, suffering is not where I want to be, so I will distract myself in any way possible from actually having to feel any sort of suffering.”

We have judged pain and suffering as an indication that there is something wrong with us. And because we view pain as something that needs to be avoided and fought against, when it shows up in our lives we resist it by trying to deny it, or we avoid it by distracting ourselves with things like addictions, or buying more stuff, or focusing on the lives of others in order to not have to focus on our own.
