“From farm to plate, the modern food system relies heavily on cheap oil. Threats to our oil supply are also threats to our food supply. As food undergoes more processing and travels further, the food system consumes ever more energy each year.”
Danielle Murray
Oil is the Most Energy Dense Form of Liquid Fuel
More often than not we hear commentators discussing oil in terms of barrels. A barrel of crude oil is 42 U.S. gallons or 158.9873 litres. A barrel of oil contains about six gigajoules of energy. This is equivalent to six billion joules or approximately 1667 kilowatt-hours. This equates to 5.8 million Btu, or British thermal units. This one barrel of oil with its astronomical 6.1 gigajoules of energy has the ability to do the work of approximately 2000 horse power hours. A healthy strong person doing physical work for eight hours generates around 75 watts of energy or one tenth of the energy a horse can deliver. Therefore as a rough guide, one barrel of crude oil has the ability to do around 10 years of human labour based on a 40 hour work week. Yet it seems many of us take this precious substance for granted, oblivious to how this liquid fuel has changed our lives, our economy and the way we live.

There are no coincidences, no accidents, yet there are so many meetings in time and space, so many paths that cross, so many improbable events that somehow are orchestrated. You can only be amazed at how so many impossible things come together.
In fact, you are often sure that something like Laws of the Universe must exist that synchronize in a such a way that couldn’t happen unless they were planned. You say to yourselves: “Ye Gods, what are the odds against the possibility of something this great occurring without the existence of a plan being foreordained and being pulled along to a perfect meeting place. Miracles must be ordained. How can it be otherwise?”
You want there to be freedom, yet there are certain occurrences you might not want to be at all.
Something couldn’t possibly happen, yet it does. Something beyond imagination happens. It isn’t even imaginable, yet it happens, and you wonder deeply how it could ever happen by chance. By chance means randomly. How can randomness possibly be in everything and not just once in a while, you ponder. You do not believe that wonderful events can be random. You do believe that unhappy events couldn’t be ordained. It is understandable that you feel this way.
Yet you hear Me say that everything is possible no matter how remote or unlikely. You hear Me say that there is nothing that is impossible. In the abstract, you like that idea.
If you don't love your house you will not clean it; if you don't love your house you will not paint it; if you don't love you will not surround it with a beautiful garden, with a lotus pond.
If you love yourself you will create a garden around yourself. You will try to grow your potential, you will try to bring out all that is in you to be expressed. If you love, you will go on showering yourself, you will go on nourishing yourself.
And if you love yourself you will be surprised: others will love you. Nobody loves a person who does not love himself. If you cannot even love yourself, who else is going to take the trouble? And the person who does not love himself cannot remain neutral. Remember, in life there is no neutrality.
The man who does not love himself hates, will have to hate - life knows no neutrality. Life is always a choice. If you don't love that does not mean that you can simply remain in that not loving state.
THE REALITY I UNDERSTAND ABOUT CREATION IS, "YOU". BE HAPPY, YOU ARE LOVE.
ENERGY CHOOSES THE HIGHEST POSSIBILITY, BE THE POSSIBILITY.
SINCE I HAVE A THOUGHT WHY NOT MAKE THE THOUGHT I HAVE INTO A BIG THOUGHT? ENERGY IS EQUAL TO ALL, NOW IS A BRILLIANT PRESENTNESS, TO BE. HAPPY IS ALL LOVE IS.
LOVE AWAKENS, BE HAPPY.
MY GOD HAS NO EDGES, NOR LIMITS IN ANY WAY. MY GOD IS LOVE, FOR MY GOD IS U = WE. AWAKEN GODS, WE ARE HERE.
CREATION IS A DESIGN OF CONSCIOUSNESS, HUMANITY IS A DESIGN OF CREATION. HUMMMM? HOW'S THAT WORKIN? BE HAPPY YOU ARE LOVE.
CONSCIOUSNESS ALWAYS DESIGNS EXACTLY AN EXPERIENCE OF WHAT ALL CONSCIOUSNESS IS. BE THE EXPERIENCE OF CONSCIOUSNESS, LIVE LONG AND BE HAPPY.
FINALLY ONE = 1 = ALL, NOW THAT'S A PARTY.
TO SHARE INTELLIGENT THOUGHTS THE INTELLIGENT NOTICE, TO SHARE DUMB THINGS THE INTELLIGENT LAUGH. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? THE THOUGHT.
LIFE IS ITSELF INTELLIGENT, AND HUMANITY IS THE PUNT LINE.
Truth be told, I’ve known I need to write about self-compassion for some time. Not just for my readers, but for myself. The reason I put it off? I suck at it. And I wasn’t quite ready to give up the part of me that believed that being gentle with myself would lead to stagnation. My high expectations of myself and others have propelled me forward, yet they’ve also been what kept me stuck. So now, as the Holidays begin and I sort through the proverbial piles of projects I’ve taken on, I’ve decided to say “fuck it!” and learn this lesson once and for all. After all, as Pema Chodron notes, “nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.”
So, let’s start by defining “Self-compassion:”
Simply put, it’s being gentle on yourself. It’s treating yourself as you would a friend when she comes to you with a struggle, failure, or self-critical belief. It’s the ability to lean into your feelings of discomfort rather than ignoring them. This means no longer asking for permission to feel your emotions. Instead, it’s learning to self-validate, stating “this is a difficult time for me and it’s okay that I’m struggling. What can I do to give myself the comfort I need and deserve?”
Each of you is a diamond; a beautifully shining creation of love with so many facets to explore. Your brilliant existence is one of the great joys of The Universe! ~ Creator
There is a story making its rounds across the internet that is putting a grin on the faces of psychedelic enthusiasts. In an interview with Rolling Stone, a 25-year-old worker from Silicon Valley revealed that he, along with many other professionals in the tech industry, occasionally uses microdoses of LSD to increase workflow.
A microdose is generally about ten micrograms, or a tenth of a single dose. In his interview, the anonymous worker explains that he felt he was able to better solve problems, make good sales numbers, and communicate effectively with customers.
Needless to say, having workers trying to function in an office while high on LSD could easily lead to negative results ─ in regards to the workflow, anyway. However, this is the beauty of the microdose. According to Rick Doblin, founder and executive director of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, microdoses are small enough so the user does not experience any hallucinatory effects, but rather feels a “little bit of an energy lift.”
“History will not be and should not be kind with that decision.”
One former general strongly believes George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq was the catalyst that created ISIS.
Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who was head of special forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, and who recently served as the former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, said the Bush administration’s reckless march into Iraq created the power vacuum that allowed ISIS to take over in the region.
“When 9/11 occurred, all the emotions took over, and our response was, ‘Where did those bastards come from? Let’s go kill them. Let’s go get them,’” Flynn said in an interview with Der Spiegel. “As brutal as Saddam Hussein was, it was a mistake to just eliminate him. The same is true for Muammar Gaddafi and for Libya, which is now a failed state.”
