6 Signs You’re Experiencing Spiritual Maturity

By Mateo Sol

In our society we have a very two dimensional understanding of maturity. Most people define it as an accumulation of experiences that come through the process of aging. But this isn’t really true.

The truth is that maturity has very little to do with our external experiences, and everything to do with our inner processing of the world. Yes, you might have experienced a lot of challenges and hardships in life, but if you weren’t present and aware of what was happening and the way in which it could help you to learn and grow, all of your experiences simply turned into moments where you unconsciously and emotionally reacted, not maturing at all.

While we have no control over aging, we do play a part in our ability to mature. Maturity is something that comes with conscious intent; something that evolves as we become more aware. It isn’t how “knowledgeable” or “smart” we are either, as knowledge is a product of past fears, mental patterns, memories, reactions and illusory concepts of the self.

How to Expand Your Consciousness

HJ: Expanding your consciousness is not so much about trying as it is about opening up to what’s already there.  All the answers you seek are within should you know how to look.  All the wisdom you need you already have should you know how to listen. And to make it really simple, the answer to those riddles is intuition.  Develop that and you tap into the realm of infinite possibility and unlimited abundance.

Expanding Our Consciousness (means waking up!)

“Human life is an optical illusion of consciousness” ~Albert Einstein

What is consciousness? Consciousness is perception; what you are aware of. Both imagination and reality depend on where you allow consciousness to dwell.

God and I Can Really Be One?

God said:

Beloveds, I have heard you say to Me:

“God, sometimes I feel that I am not connecting with You. Then I sit down with You personally, and the power of You enters my heart, and all the tawdry world no longer exists. It is as if You so gently, instantly and all powerfully, touch my heart and calm it. There is something where the Essence of You sweeps everything else aside, and I feel a tight connection with You, as if, truly, You are my Very Self.

“At these times, my pulse throbs: ‘God is here. My God is here. God and I are really One. There is no parting between Us. We are seamless.’

“God, You become my own Knowingness. It is like everything else that preoccupies me gets out of the way. What is left then? What can be left but You, God, exhilarating my heart, coursing through me - only You and nothing but You. You are not Nothing. You are Something, and You are deep within me. You are tenured within me. You are the Very Beat of My Heart. You are embedded in Me. For a few moments, nothing but You exists. I forget myself.

“You save me from my dependency on the outer world which, sooner or later, seems to let me down. You, God, You raise me up. You hold me on top of the world. You overshadow the clouds of the world. You lift me to Holy Heaven, and, for a few moments, I am here complete with You. Nothing is missing or can be missing, for Our hearts exchange love, and that’s all there is. Your love is safe within me. You fill my heart, and I am full of You.

How To Silence Your Mind And Not Worry – Alan Watts

Everyone will be able to relate this. We all worry about things, it’s perfectly natural but do we worry too much? Our minds are constantly busy with thoughts and worries and the only way to really stop worrying and thinking so much is to learn how to silence your mind.

”May we have the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” ~ Alan Watts

Alan Watts who narrates this video was profoundly influenced by the East Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Buddhism, and by Taoist thought, which is reflected in Zen poetry and the arts of China and Japan. Listening to his wisdom has helped to being me much peace and I hope that you too can reap the benefits of his words.

15 Toxic Beliefs You Need to Let Go

There are so many limiting and toxic beliefs we hold on to, beliefs that keep us from living the happy, joyful and meaningful life we all deserve to live. And by giving up on them, by  letting go of all the extra baggage that is weighting us down, we allow ourselves to be happy. And we give life permission to shower us with the many wonderful and precious gifts it has to offer.  So without further ado, I say, give up and be happy. Let’s begin :)

1. I am not enough

Give up this limiting and toxic belief of you not being enough – “good enough”, “smart enough”, “rich enough:, “beautiful enough”, etc.. Remind yourself as often as possible that who you are is more than enough.

Place your hands over your heart, take a few cleansing breaths and repeat these words to yourself: “Who I am is enough. Who I am is more than enough. Not because of how my life looks externally, but because of who I truly am internally.”

Truth is not a puzzle at all. Let me repeat it: truth is not a puzzle. Truth is not a problem, not at all. Truth is very simple, utterly simple. And truth is not a problem, but a mystery - just as love is a mystery, not a problem. You cannot solve it through logic, mathematics. You can move into love, you can be madly in love, you can have the taste of it, it can transform you, but it is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be lived.

Truth is this mystery that surrounds you, in the form of people, in the form of trees, animals, birds, stars. This whole mystery is the truth. There is nothing problematic about it. It is already here. You are in it; how can you solve it? You are it; who is there to solve it? There is nobody except the mystery. How can a small ripple in the ocean solve the mystery of the ocean? It itself is part of the mystery. So are we.

Why is the US Navy Practicing ‘Armageddon’ on Alaska’s Wildlife?

Catherine J. Frompovich, Guest
Waking Times

What hath the State of Alaska wrought that it deserves the full-force and ‘retribution’ of the U.S. Navy upon Alaskan sea life, its pristine ocean and bay waters, the fishing industry and the people of Alaska?

Apparently, a nautical ‘war’ has been declared to start sometime in June 2015!

What’s that all about, especially when the U.S. Navy will be ‘attacking’ indefensible’ entities: the environment, sea creatures and probably humans from all the toxic releases into the environment and other war games’ horrors such as sonic booms, etc.?

According to journalist Dahr Jamail’s article, “The Navy’s Great Alaskan ‘War,'” Alaska is about to face an ‘off-shore Armageddon’ according to those in the know about such plans. Jamail interviewed Emily Stolarcyk of the Eyak Preservation Council who said, “We are concerned about expended materials in addition to the bombs, jet noise, and sonar.”

Chronic Illness Begins With Breakdown In Your Gut

Good overall health begins with a healthy gut. Chronic illness begins with breakdown in the gut.

This is where I typically start with clients looking to address any health challenge.

If you’re looking for lasting improvement in any area of your health, it’s best not to think of your body parts as being independent compartments. Every cell communicates with every other cell, not always directly, but via the fluids, hormones, and neurotransmitters that travel through the vast network of blood vessels and nerves that course through every part of you. And it all starts with your gut.

Your Life Is The “How To”

will's picture

This is something that seems universal to spiritual seekers, and a question I hear almost constantly, people want to know “How?” How do I connect with God? How do I connect with my Higher Self? How do I induce mystical experiences? How do I escape my suffering? How can I end corruption? How do I become free? These questions all share the same root, “How do I get what I want?” and of course it's not just spiritual types asking this, but all of society. The How has become a kind of kind of common mantra, I wonder why...

Look at these two questions:
“How do I get what I want?”
“Why do I want this?”

With the first question, you're almost always going to be looking outwards. You're looking to the external world to provide not only an answer to your question, but also the object of your desire. And there's always those willing to offer you a How, though they usually have some personal stake in it as well. You want to fix society? Some politician has the answer! You want something expensive? The bank will give you a loan! You want to get everything you desire? The latest spiritual self-help book will show you how for only $19.95!

Now look at the other question, not the How, but the Why. Why do I want this? With this question you can't help but dig a little deeper. You're forced to look within, to become introspective and examine your motivations. The How was just on the surface, but with the Why you start to look underneath to where all the Hows come from.

“How do I get someone to like me?”
“Why do I need their approval?”

One of those questions really gets to the heart of the matter. In fact, when the Why gets an answer, the How many disappear altogether.

“How do I find happiness?”
“Why am I unhappy?”

Guilt – The Shadow of Spiritual Growth

Frank M. Wanderer, Ph.D, Contributor
Waking Times

During your spiritual growth, you may discover what’s important to you, you can reach your inner tranquility, peace and happiness, that none can take away from you. You can find your inner strength, which you can experience as an effortless Presence. In this state, you are aware, only the present moment exists to you, your being is pervaded by the silence of Consciousness and the joy of Existence.

During your spiritual Journey you would like to bring this effortless Presence into your daily routine, so you are trying to spend as much time in the state of the Presence as possible.

That is a noble effort, but alas, it is soon experienced that it fails day by day. The question arises, ”What is the reason for the failure? Why can I not spend a longer period in the state of effortless Presence, when I want to? It is surely because I am not good enough, and I am unable to make the required effort. I am unsuited for such a noble task!”
