Last month, Australia became the world’s first country to ban the import or export of lion trophies, often taken from so-called canned hunting where lions are raised solely to be shot by foreign hunters.

“These new rules mean that if you go overseas and engage in the appalling act of canned hunting, you can forget about bringing your lion trophies back to Australia,” said Greg Hunt, Australia’s Environment Minister. “You don’t deserve the right to celebrate the slaughter of these amazing creatures.”

California is slowly fading into desert land. The fight to save the state's water resources has begun at the state level. Governor Jerry Brown recently imposed a 25 percent mandatory restriction on urban water use. This takes effect in July 2015.

This is only the beginning of large scale rationing efforts across the state. Before Brown signed the mandatory water restriction, 26 California water districts were planning to ration water imported into the state. This drastic measure has only happened twice before. A vote is expected soon as the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California weighs their conservation options throughout the state.

Nestle exports California water for profit as locals are forced to ration

As 26 water districts begin to ration imported water, the Nestle Corporation is busy extracting spring water 85 miles east of Los Angeles, California. From there the precious water is bottled and exported for sale around the world. In fact, Nestle owns Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water, a 383,000 square foot bottling plant located on the Morongo Band of Mission Indian reservation. This plant also packages purified water for their Nestle Pure Life brand.

Annoyance and anger just aren’t worth it. Do you really have to be upset again and again by mulling over the same occasion? There must be other recourses than being upset.

No matter how correct you are that the event may be uncalled for, you don’t have to fume nor do you have to erupt like a volcano.

You deserve more than to react and react and react. I say this to you so that you will know to grow to be the master of your life and not so blown by the winds of another’s inabilities. You may say that the people who cause you upset should know better. This may well be true. I’m not arguing with you.

I will also ask you: Is it possible that you, too, by now, could come to a better way of responding? Perhaps this other person is smarter than you because he or she is not nearly so bothered about whatever it may be as you are. This idea rankles you. What it may come down to is that something means more to you than it does to someone else.

You can talk about your right to be angry all you want, yet where does anger get you?

If We care to talk about efficiency and competency, anger is not efficient nor is it competent. You’re wiser without anger, do you agree?

No matter what the justification, what if you aren’t angry? What would you lose, and what would you gain? What if you had composure instead of blood boiling? What if you were true to yourself and wise and kind? What if you could be wiser? What if you were not a wooden match that goes up so easily into flame whenever it is struck?

Tommy Kleyn walked past a polluted river on his way to his job in the Netherlands every day. The Netherlands are well known for environmental stewardship, so this polluted river didn’t make much sense. Kleyn decided to take action by picking up the river a little bit at a time after work.

“It took me about 30 minutes to fill one garbage bag with trash, but one bag doesn’t make a dent in a place as polluted as this. I vowed to fill one bag of trash each day as I passed this spot,” Kleyn said.

Every day, Kleyn documented how the river was transformed by his work by taking pictures and sharing them on a new Facebook page called Project Schone Schie. In just six days, Kleyn had made some impressive progress with his cleanup effort. Eventually the neighbors took notice and began helping him.

“The idea is to motivate people to fill one garbage bag with litter each year. It only takes 30 minutes, it really makes a difference and you will be amazed about how good you feel afterwards,” he said.
