Enjoying an unhurried meal may have more advantages than previously thought. In a world of increasing speed, the idea of leisurely savoring a bite to eat can seem just plain crazy. But ancient wisdom, modern science and a grassroots movement have all come to the same conclusion: eating mindfully is good for us.

Mindful Eating – The Pleasure of Leisure

Epicurus (b.341 BCE) is most famously known for his freewheeling indulgence of pleasure. Founding a school in Athens called the “Garden,” he has long been associated with gluttony and excess. Nevertheless, the reputation of Epicurus isn’t entirely accurate. He did advocate a life of intelligent pleasure, which was coupled with the wisdom that simplicity will bring the greatest joy. Jules Evans of Philosophy For Life explains:

“In seeking to restore an experience of oneness between your children and yourself, the path leads by way of the discovery of communion with your own forgotten self. This is the case because establishing a meaningful partnership with your children will inevitably cause you to attend to the development of your own authentic being. As your growing awareness disintegrates the parent-child hierarchy, it will spontaneously equalize the playing field in your family. Moving away from egoic behavior- surrendering your opinions of how situations ‘ought’ to be, and how people ‘should’ act- will allow you to step off your pedestal of dominance.” ~ Shefali Tsabary, Phd, author “The Conscious Parent”

Does consciousness create the material world? Before we answer this question, it’s important to first go into what the material world is actually composed of at a fundamental level. “Reality” is not simply made of tiny physical pieces, like a bunch of marbles or tiny little bowling balls. Molecules are made out of atoms, and atoms are made out of subatomic particles such as protons and electrons which are 99.99999% empty space and electrical spin. These are then made out of quarks, which then are a part of a Superstring field which consists of vibrating strings that give rise to fundamental particles based on the nature of their vibration.

We interact with a world of physical objects, but this is only due to the way our brains translate sensory data. At the smallest and most fundamental scales of nature, the idea of “physical reality” is non-existent...

There is an expression: The Moment of Truth. This expression is another way to say: “Eureka!” Both Archimedes and you have had insights.

Something becomes clear to you that was not clear before. Insights can take many forms. Insight is an apt word. An insight is not an out-sight. You can read an encyclopedia or look up something on the web any day of the week. It is no big deal. You can ask all your friends what they think, and they will tell you with great assurance what they think. But an insight, even an insight in a small pond, can be revolutionary. We can say that you grow by steps of insights.

And from where do insights come? From where does bright light come? Insights and light come from Me – what is referred to as Me as though you and I were two instead of One. We can more logistically say that the insights you intercept are from your Higher Self. And what is your Higher Self but Our Oneness designated as your Higher Self? Therefore, the Higher Self earmarked as your Spiritual Self is a picture of Mine that you pick up. Within every so-called personage on Earth am I.

I think it’s a good idea to remind you, the seeming you, that you are in Truth the God your intellect refers to as Above, and so your intellect separates yourself from its Very Self.

Eating can be a sacred experience. Right before our eyes, we get to witness the transformation and transmutation of matter into energetic potential. Food gives us the fuel we need to live our best lives and the way we choose to eat can change the world. As Kundalini energy rises up from the lower chakras, we enter into the realm of pure consciousness. The seventh and final chakra: Sahasrara, the Crown Chakra is the center for deeper connection with ourselves and with a force of life that is greater than ourselves. Resonating a pure light, the energy of Crown Chakra is where Ida and Pingala Nadis unite and rise through the Sushumnā Nādī.

The Sahasrara chakra is symbolized by a lotus with a thousand different colored petals, arranged in twenty layers of 50 petals. It encompasses the crown of the head, where all chakras are integrated, while it passes into infinity from the top of the head.
