Spiritual Evolution Isn’t Always Easy

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

I don’t think spiritual evolution’s meant to be easy or flow freely all the time. Instead, I think its purpose is to challenge us and encourage us to challenge ourselves. It leads us to try new things; to step outside of our comfort zone and take on challenges we might fear, and when we grasp the idea that we’re infinite, we feel inspired to test our infinity.

We feel inspired to see what we can really do, and this leads us to challenges that not only test our abilities, but our patience. The hardest part of spiritual evolution is facing challenges that seem unwinnable, and frustration can arise when we struggle with something that we just don’t think we can complete.

What most seekers don’t understand is that being ‘infinite’ doesn’t mean we can instantly do whatever we want. True infinity is realized when we see that we aren’t meant to automatically complete whatever challenge we face, and in some cases, we’re meant to struggle a little until we learn the lesson that’s associated with what we’re trying to do.

Enlightenment: Wanting it vs. Working for It

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

Sometimes, we reach a point where we want to feel more connected with the Christ within; more connected with our essence, and when this happens, we might have to ask ourselves a few essential questions.

One of them is if we’re making choices throughout our day that are in alignment with our wish to be more connected. Are we helping ourselves live a lifestyle that’s truly inspired by spirit, or does the idea of staying connected only sound good at the surface?

Oftentimes, we’ll find when we take a serious, discerning look at ourselves that even though we think we want to be more connected, we still aren’t making choices that help us stay aligned. We’ll find that continuing to falter in some areas of life is what causes us to feel distant from love or spirit.

The Earth is Everyone’s Responsibility

It becomes clear to anyone who looks around that we’re dealing with a unique situation here on earth.

We live on a beautiful planet that provides everything we could ever need and then some, and we humans aren’t the only ones here. We’re one out of thousands of sentient creatures who share this planet, and instead of using our evolutionary superiority to help our fellow species, we’ve practically dominated them into oblivion.

Our precious resources are in the hands of a small collective of rich, powerful and influential people who seem to tower over the rest of the world, and aware activists and organizations have strived to raise awareness of the crimes they commit on a daily basis.

The common person doesn’t seem to understand or care that we’re rapidly depleting our resources and destroying our environment, and the activist groups who try to raise awareness and make a change are usually treated unkindly by our mainstream culture.

Changing the World by Changing Our Perspective

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

It becomes clear to anyone who looks around that we live in a broken world.

Things happen every day that are appalling to say the least, and a lot of them are hidden from public view. Corporations and shadow governments run this world secretly (yet out in the open), and most common people are too internally divided to unite and address the problems that run rampant.

Depending on how we see the world, it could be the worst place to live or the best. This could be the most desolate, corrupt and broken planet in our mostly unexplored cosmos if we let it, and those of you who are alarmed or even depressed because of our world’s current condition are, in a way, right to feel the way you do.

A lot of things need to change. This has become increasingly clear, and every day, more and more people are awakening to the corruption of the elitist forces who strive to rule over us and the necessity to come together and...

Negativity and Spirituality: You Aren’t Alone

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

Some of us consider it our mission to raise the collective vibration by doing what we can to raise our own, and however often I’ve said what I’m about to say, I think the best way to avoid distraction or depression is to consistently embrace our creative and spiritual practices.

I’ve had trouble staying centered lately. It happens every now and then, but it seems to have gotten worse and I’ve watched myself get distracted and frustrated when I could be writing, playing music, meditating or doing anything else that helps me stay centered and fills me with the spirit.

I’m learning that our emotions might dip if we don’t stay dedicated to our passions. Emotion is a powerful tool that can be used positively or negatively, and those of us who are sensitive to the world’s harshness might suffer if we don’t keep our spiritual links strong. Not only could we suffer – our negativity could make the people around us suffer too.

Angels and Spiritual Evolution

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

One of the ideas that’s tossed around the conscious community is that there are other planes of existence beyond the physical earth. With dedication, effort and patience, we can raise our vibration and become higher-vibrational beings who look upon the earth (and other lower realms) with the desire to help its people evolve.

Some people think there’s more to life than our human level of existence, and beyond this realm exists other, more advanced ones that boast the ‘angels’ we’ve heard so much about from religion. I’m open to the idea that angels exist, and I think they’re higher-vibrational beings who do what they can to help us understand our spiritual nature and let the divine into our lives.

We Don’t Have to Renounce the World

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

Throughout the decades, various spiritual teachers have encouraged us to turn away from the world and everything that constitutes the illusory as opposed to the real.

We’ve been continuously encouraged not to embrace the world as much as we embrace our growing spirituality, and the case has been made that worldly things are temporary and only lead to unhappiness, whereas spirit is permanent and, if ceaselessly focused on, can lead to everlasting bliss.

According to a lot of spiritual teachers, once we get a taste of spiritual bliss, we tend to stop caring about the world. We start to care more about finding spirit and discovering ourselves as God, and the illusory aspects of this reality cease to interest us.

Channeling: Automatism or Something Greater?

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

Since I became a part of the conscious community in 2011, I’ve been interested in channeled messages and the idea that we can communicate with higher aspects of our consciousness. I was introduced to spirituality through the communications of apparent enlightened beings who, in their words, want to help us raise our vibration.

I was more heavily involved in channeling when I first emerged than I am now. Whereas I was interested in connecting with specific entities before, I now see that channeling can be a helpful tool to communicate with what I call the ‘higher self’, which is an evolved part of our consciousness that offers advice and guidance in meditation (and in general).

I think the higher self (which we all have) intuitively guides its individualized lower consciousness on earth, and this is one reason we’re encouraged to listen to our intuition...

Negativity and Staying Centered

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

We aren’t the only ones who go through hard times, and everyone has their struggles in life. We’re all trying to get by in this crazy world, and it helps to detach from any stress or pressure we’ve put on ourselves or the people in our lives.

Things get easier when we realize that everyone’s doing their best from their level of consciousness, and even people we think are ‘negative’ are trying their best to get through life with the greatest degree of happiness and wholeness they can attain.

It’s understandable to feel like this world should live up to the standards we strive to live up to. It’s easy to convince ourselves we should be treated a certain way by others, but we’re bound to be unhappy if we follow this mindset.

As hard as it can be, decreasing our mind-driven attachment to the world will help us flow with everything we experience – the good and the bad. It’ll be easier to forgive...

2015: A New Year, a New Era

Written by Wes Annac, The Culture of Awareness

2015 is here, and with each New Year we meet, we’re usually compelled to ask what we want to do differently to make it more enjoyable and fulfilling than the last. Personally, my goals for 2015 are to step into a greater open-mindedness (and openheartedness), make spirit a more consistent part of my life and let the love flow to everyone who crosses my path.

I mentioned in a previous article that I’m ready to step into a more refined, authentic version of myself who can express love freely and creatively flow with no problems. I’m ready for the spiritual aspects of life to reveal themselves to a greater degree, and I’m ready to explore my consciousness even more than I have so far.

Spiritual evolution is all about growing and refining our consciousness until we reach a flowing, perceptually advanced state of mind and heart that fills us with the spirit and inspires us to use our inner love to bring our reality into a higher vibration.
