Do Spirituality & Religion Increase Overall Happiness?

Let’s examine briefly the fundamental difference between religion and spirituality. Religion is defined as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe. Most religious involvement usually involves devotional and ritual observances and often prescribes a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

“Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need.” Matthew 5:3

Spirituality refers to our ultimate reality, the human experience or understanding of the world. It is the innermost path which enables a person to discover the true essence of his or her being. Religion is based around order and usually revolves around an establishment such as the church, synagogue, or mosque, along with some external guidelines. Spirituality is based on the individual’s internal processes. It is aligned with how it affects the human spirit or soul.

15 Creative Ways To Recycle Old Furniture Into An Enchanted Garden

People have come up with some interesting, yet creative ways of recycling their old furniture into some of the most beautiful garden decorations. Using old pianos, broken pots, and anything else really. All it takes is a little hard work and dedication, but it’s definitely possible to create your own enchanted garden.

One of the amazing things about using these old furnishings as decorations is that the sky is the limit. There is no end to the possibilities of what you could create with the rusting bathtub you have lying around. Or even an old, but stunning bed frame with flowers adorned all over the fixtures. Instead of having silk and lace, you could have vines as drapes with a menagerie of flowers spread out all over the vines! Who knew this would be a good way to recycle?

Day 15: Soar Like an Eagle, Men 2

SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE   Like the eaglet, you must first be fed by your mama. This is like receiving information from other sources such as books, videos and conversations with those who feed you information to help you grow. Just as an eaglet sheds its baby feathers, so must humans shed their fears and out-dated belief codes in order to be able to fly.

As negative belief codes are shed, allowing you to be in your integrity and to speak your truth, the freer you become. Like the eagle, you can soar higher and higher, playing with the thermals and keeping a sharp eye out for your next meal, simply living in the moment, flowing with life while taking care of your basic needs. As you mature, it is time to leave the nest.

For humans, this is a time for introspection, going within and learning to rely on yourself. Each of you must make this solo flight if you want to reach your highest potential. It is your choice to create the path you wish to walk, taking responsibility for each step along the way. As you get better at making choices that lead you toward your desired destiny, life gets easier and more profound. This is like the eagle that has mastered his flight patterns and is adept at catching his prey in order to sustain himself.

Herb Garden, Natural Delights

by Lorri Amsden

“For all things produced in a garden whether of salads or fruits, a poor man will eat better that has one of his own, than a rich man that has none.” – John Claudius Lourdes, Scottish Botanist 1783-1843

While early spring is often too cold to start many plants in the ground, it is a perfect time to get outside and enjoy the warming weather by starting a container herb garden. There is nothing quite like working with the sun on your shoulders and your hands in the dirt as you tend plants until they yield a harvest.

The act of working with the earth, under the blue sky and helping something grow is very therapeutic. A study in the Neuroscience Journal from 2007 found that exposure to the bacteria found in dirt boosts Serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is the neurotransmitter that affects sleep cycles, moods and memory. Low levels of serotonin are linked to aggression, anxiety and depression. Many gardeners already know that running their naked finger through the soil not only makes their spirits soar but grounds them in the shifting of the seasons.

Discover Your Sun and Discover Yourself

by Nic Gaudette

In some ways, discovering who you are is a lifelong journey, and no matter how much you think you know about yourself, there is more to be found. Astrologically, this endless journey begins with your Sun.

The Sun versus the Moon and Rising

The Sun represents your inner, true self-the you that comes out when you’re around those you know best. This is different from your Rising, which represents your outer self, the way you come across, and the facade you have. It also differs from your Moon, which represents your emotional self, the way you emotionally react in situations, and what you need for emotional security. The Moon is needs while the Sun is wants; the Rising is your mask while the Sun is your face.

Life Is a Spiritual Experience

Credit: Drwaynedyer.com

By Wes Annac, Culture of Awareness

Who says life on Earth can’t be fun? Who says we have to tolerate life while we strive to find something better, instead of recognizing that what we seek is right in front of us? I’ve been a part of the conscious community for a couple years, and every now and then, I notice that some people would rather not be here.

Some would rather be in a higher state of consciousness or reunited with their spiritual family, and for them, living on Earth is a chore or a bother that they have to suffer through before they can return ‘home’ and find what they feel is missing.

What if this world is in fact our ‘home’, because ‘home’ is all of creation? What if, instead of our true home being in a distant higher consciousness we have to search for, our true home is right here, in this moment of now, waiting for us to realize it?

What if a full, loving heart can show us that the higher reality we want is here on this planet inside each of us, and once we realize this, we can start the next stage of our spiritual evolution? Maybe, just maybe, spiritual evolution will lead us to understand that every aspect of our existence – this reality and every one beyond it – is our home.

Experiences Are No More Than Experiences

God said:

All experiences are good, yet don’t make too much of experiences. This includes experiences that you find wonderful and also experiences you find heartrending and traumatic. Too much is not to be made of anything at all in the relative world. An experience that seems big today may simmer down to nothing the next day.

In any case, experiences recede, and you experience something else. Even routine experiences are experiences. Riding the bus. Opening or closing a door. Standing on tiptoe to reach to the top of the fridge.

Whether an experience is flunking a test in school or near death or a birthday party, you don’t want to make too much of it. Regardless of the nature of your experience, it is only an experience. You can love it or not love it.

We can perhaps say that experience is a hall you go down. You don’t stay there. A hall can be as beautiful as a church, or it can be crumbling, yet a hall is only a hall. It serves a function in the world. A hall you go down may well be momentous to you, yet, regardless, it is only a passage.

A passage can go east and west or it can go north and south. It can go up hill or downhill. It can make you laugh or make you cry. Ultimately, there is no difference. It all comes out in the wash.

Life in the world is not even a dot in Infinity. Not really a blip either because Infinity is Eternal. We can say that dots and blips and time and space are outside of Infinity. We can say that anything outside of Infinity does not exist. I do say this.

Mute 9-Year-Old Speaks First Ever Words After Consuming Cannabis Oil

I used to think marijuana was just a plant that got me really high and was fun to smoke with my friends. I didn’t realize its medicinal benefits until I began studying the plant four years ago.

Now, thanks to cannabis–and specifically CBD oil–I firmly believe in miracles. The latest proof of CBD as a miraculous sorcerer’s stone that aids those previously without a “cure” comes out of Puerto Rico–and it’s a tear-jerker.

Thanks to a rare form of cancer resulting in “severe, non-verbal autism”, Kalel Santiago lived the first nine years of his life without uttering a single syllable. Then, recently, his parents discovered the newfound miracle plant: CBD oil, the non-psychoactive ingredient in cannabis that cures epilepsy and saves lives.

His parents administered the oil on Kalel, and the result was the boy’s first spoken words in his lifetime–and it only took two days of using the medicine to begin seeing the results.

Nothing else is more important. If you cannot respect your own longing, then you are disrespectful to God. If you cannot assert yourself in the way you want to be, then you are a coward, then you are compromising; then you will never have a centering, you will never have an integrated being, you will never find yourself crystallized. You will always remain a hazy, cloudy thing.

The soul is born through such sacrifices. I am not saying that there will be no problem. There will be problems - many more than you can think of right now, many more than you can even imagine.

Friends will turn into enemies, your own family will start looking at you as if you have fallen from grace, and certainly your colleagues wherever you work will start putting you out of their circle, as if you are an outsider, a foreigner.

But all these problems are worth facing. These are the steps of the temple of God. This is real sacrifice, austerity. And slowly, slowly when one passes through such fire, the gold that you are carrying within you becomes pure; and only through the purity of your inner gold, one day, the golden flower blooms.

I am all for individual freedom, and freedom is the door to God. What do I mean by freedom? To live fearlessly is freedom, to drop fear is freedom. Fear creates our chains.

Now you are afraid of the job, career, family, neighborhood. These are all chains made of your fear.

Drop these chains. Live in freedom. Live authentically the life you really want to live. Don't try to be somebody else, just be yourself.

“Cosmic Consciousness” Explained

“As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul…” – Hermes Trismagistus

Cosmic consciousness is a term that was first coined in 1901 in the book Cosmic Consciousness: A Study in the Evolution of the Human Mind by Richard Maurice Bucke, and became popularized through the teachings of Deepak Chopra.

It is defined as:

“Cosmic consciousness, a consciousness of the life and order of the universe which is possessed by few men at present.

It is a further stage of human evolution which will be reached by all humanity in the future.”

Some may also refer to this concept as Pantheism, which is the belief “that the universe (or nature as the totality of everything) is identical with divinity, or that everything composes an all-encompassing, immanent God.”

While the current state of consciousness that dictates our reality still tends to anthropomorphize God in an attempt to relate to “the-all-that-is,” it is through digging deeper and connecting the dots of what we see and what we cannot “see” that we can find what God may truly mean.

A Brief History of False Flag Terrorism

By James Corbett

Guest Writer for Wake Up World

In naval warfare, a “false flag” refers to an attack where a vessel flies a flag other than their true battle flag before engaging their enemy. It is a trick, designed to deceive the enemy about the true nature and origin of an attack.

In the democratic era, where governments require at least a plausible pretext before sending their nation to war, it has been adapted as a psychological warfare tactic to deceive a government’s own population into believing that an enemy nation has attacked them.

In the 1780s, Swedish King Gustav III was looking for a way to unite an increasingly divided nation and raise his own falling political fortunes. Deciding that a war with Russia would be a sufficient distraction but lacking the political authority to send the nation to war unilaterally, he arranged for the head tailor of the Swedish Opera House to sew some Russian military uniforms...

How To See Through The Smoke And Mirrors

By Christina Lavers

Guest Writer for Wake Up World

Waking up, for the average person, isn’t something that happens in a day or a moment. It is an ongoing process that often feels like a long multi-layered, winding road with an unclear destination. For many, dissatisfaction with the status quo is the catalyst that propels us to seek greener pastures. Wanting something more than the shallow illusions that dance on our television screens, we begin to pull our awareness away from the bread and circus on offer and look toward the fringes.

In the mainstream ‘they’ hold a lot of power. They tell us what’s what: everything from what is good and bad for us, and what we should aspire to, to how we should look, and what’s hot and what’s not.

Daily Message ~ Wednesday June 3, 2015

Forgiveness is a concept many people struggle with. Most people want to forgive, but they fear if they do it will leave them open to experience hurt again. They think the act of forgiveness is foolish, or somehow condoning what happened to them.

When you refuse to forgive for whatever reason, you are keeping yourself in the energy of what wounded you. You are choosing to keep the energy of having been victimized active. It ties you to the very thing you never wish to experience again.

What if you substituted the word forgiveness for release? What if you chose to release the entire situation? Because that is truly what the act of forgiveness does – it lets go of what is unwanted and chooses a new energy moving forward. It lightens your load and moves you back into your own empowerment. ~Archangel Gabriel

Listening to the Wisdom of Trees

By Mara Freeman

One of the most essential teachings of Celtic spirituality is that the natural world is radiantly alive and sentient. To walk among trees is to reconnect with our deep ancestral roots in the forest. To look through the spiraling branches of a giant redwood is to contemplate a living mandala; to gaze at the colors of a maple in autumn is to witness the ever-changing canvas of a sublime artist.

Trees can help clear our minds from the frenzy of our fast-track lives, inspire our thoughts, calm our emotions and fill us with serenity. They are elders on this planet who embody an ineffable wisdom that they will share with us if we but seek it out. I find that just a short while spent in the presence of certain trees can make me feel soothed and relaxed, as if the tree itself is gently helping me put my fears and anxieties into a broader perspective...
